Hi All,
Having a clear out at home and come across a set of Nat West piggy banks issued in the 1980’s. We thought of selling them on eBay seeing the prices they are going for (all in good condition with Bat West stoppers but no boxes.
However, can anyone suggest how we can send five ceramic piggy banks through the post with minimum risk of breakage.?
Any ideas greatly welcomed.

Wrap individually in tissue paper then bubble wrap, put in individual boxes.
Wrap individual boxes in bubble wrap, put in strong outer box.
If valuable, again wrap in bubble wrap and put in a second outer box.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
My matra for posting items like this is - the least time it is in the postal system the less likely it is to get damaged. So select a postal method like RM24 or special delivery.
Use a double walled box and double box if possibleYou're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -
A full unboxed set seems to sell on ebay for between £20-£55 so OP you will need to calculate your postage costs based on the dimensions of the box and the insured value. I agree with the above though, individually wrapped and then double boxed .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You may not raise as much but collection only would involve less wrapping, worry and your effort.
I know I often get a few pounds but for less hassle I like collection only items... the buyer is usually happy to bring something to collect/carry things in.0 -
Try Facebook Marketplace first and have someone collect them?0

Considering how much they fetch at present, personally I'd stick them in the loft and forget them for a few years. £20-£55 isn't worth the hassle of postage for me.
Maybe try local marketplaces first as Barny says.0 -
My last Nat West pigs got pulled by Facebook marketplace as being against their animal or fire arm policy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This does not come as a shock.
I remember my Aunt having a full set of these when I was a kid and they were worth hundreds. Amazing how they dropped.
I've been going to auctions for about 20 years, a full set used to go for about £150+ nowadays an auctioneer is lucky to get £25, single ones even turn up in £5 mixed boxes.
It's the same with Royal Doulton ladies or Wedgwood Jasper ware.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
