If you have a look on the royal mail website, put the tracking number in, it should say where the parcel is.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

OP says in first post they have done that0 -
Yes I have, proof of postage and tracking number. Why?Well there is a return address on it. It was only a 50ml bottle.
I have resigned myself to not having it delivered now but I just hope I get it back so I can get a refund. It was quite expensive.
I don't suppose the cover included in the posting price will mean anything either?
Proof of postage and tracking number is not going to be much use if you want to return the perfume to Debenhams or Boots (other stores are available) but you will probably need the original purchase receipt.0 -
Unlikely it will get returned, it was incorrectly / not marked so how can it be sent through the postal system ? Luckily for OP they don't seem to prosecute, an option that is open to them.0

Is it possible that it won't get scanned and gets sent anyway? I have heard of people sending perfume without problems.
Perfume can be sent in the post within the U.K. but not overseas.
Here is the relevant information from the Royal Mail website.
Perfumes and aftershaves
(including eau de parfum and eau de toilette)
Packaging guidelines: Volume per item must not exceed 150ml.
No more than four items in any one parcel. Must be sent in its original retail packaging, placed in strong outer packaging and cushioned to prevent breakage.
Must be presented at the counter.
Sender’s name and address must be visible on the parcel.”
There are 100s of online U.K. sites where you can buy perfume and they never have any problems.
Hope this helps0 -
I do think the PO should have questioned “gift” as that is far to generic.
I don't, but then i'm grumpy and think it's the only way people will learn. Every post office I have been in has plenty of large signs, with images on what is prohibited and what isn't.
It's usually the same kind of people that cause large queues at airport security as they are taking 250ml liquids and other smaller liquids they haven't placed in a clear bag in the tray. This despite the 100's of signs and announcements prior. Shame they don't automatically dispose of their hand luggage, rather then getting them to rectify their mistake.0 -
I belong to a few perfume forums and back in the good old days early 00s swapped bottles etc and shipped all over the world. Then in 2016 the new regulations came in.
You cannot post perfume outside the UK in fact a number of shops had to stop as finding a courier was far too expensive and customers would be willing to pay. Some shops will only post to mainland UK excluding Northern Ireland and even the Highlands of Scotland. You can send to these places using Hermes though.
Your expensive perfume will be destroyed. Simple. As others in the perfume groups I belong have had happen. You will get a letter telling you it has been destroyed and telling you if you do it again they might fine you.
Oh, these prohibited items are sent to Belfast where they are destroyed.;) It is a special warehouse near the docks.0 -

Perfume is not allowed in mailMr_Singleton wrote: »Not strictly true... I've sent perfume internationally. Depends what it is and how you describe it on the customs form.
It is strictly true.
Perfume cannot legally be sent internationally.
You can send scented lotions but not perfume
