He only took off the plate last Thursday. Its not even that good of a private plate as well.
The private Reg OH54 FYA comes up on all the checks as the car and everything matches. Make. Year. Mot ect. HPI check was all good as well.
The new car is a BMW 680.0 -
How are you going to tax and insure it to drive back to Glasgow?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

How are you going to tax and insure it to drive back to Glasgow?
Insure in the usual way, the new reg will be live at DVLA, if the insurers access the DVLA to find the car, otherwise you tell them the exact make model and reg. However, I checked and you can't tax it without a current V5 or the current new keeper slip, unless you pay £25 to apply for another V5 at the same time.
The V5 might arrive today or tomorrow if he transferred online last Thursday.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

My only concern is the owner has taken his private registration off the car and applied it to his new car. He doesn't have the new V5 from the DVLA and because of this the default plate doesn't show on any checks. The private one still does for now.
Until the new plate (probably one that the car was first registered with) is recognised you're not going to be able to insure it, and if it's not a recognized plate you're going to be setting off any ANPR you go near.
If you're planning on driving down, buying this and driving home you're taking a hell of a risk.
If you're driving down and trailering it back home, that'd at least be legal.
I wouldn't consider touching a car that didn't have an appropriate V5 and registration plate.Well i don't but from the video's and stuff it looks good so far. That's why i am eager to get this done as i know I've got myself a good deal with the time of year.
People don't usually sell cars under market value unless they are desperate to shift it.
Are you overlooking stuff because you're being tempted by the bargain?0 -

What that might be is another question.0 -
That plate appears to be on a 2016 Audi A6 currently. So if you're looking at a 6-series, it's definitely been removed.I need to think of something new here...0

Hi all.
The owned has put the plate OH54 FYA onto his new BMW.
The original plate for the audi A6 is LR16 WRN.
He has the V5 for the Audi but they are registered to OH54 FYA. He is awaiting the new V5.
It is a good deal but nothing i would be like "wow that's good". I only have this weekend then its back to work for me so won't have time to plan any trips down the road.
I have looked at cars locally in Glasgow but nothing at all i fancy and anything decent is away in the highlands !!!0 -

Then DVLA aren't showing it yet.
Vehicle Enquiry can't find it.
Did he remove the plate online, or send it off by post?
He said he done it online.
He called and said the new V5 and documents would be out next week at some point.
I was to leave to go view it today but i'm reluctant for the above.0 -

Even without the complication of registration change, I don’t think it is advisable to buy a car of that value privately except if you personally know the owner. If there is any issues later on, you won’t have the protection you will have when buying from a dealer. Sure you pay a bit more but for the added peace of mind, I will rather pay slightly more.
There have been cases here of people buying stolen/cloned cars and cars with log book loans etc. Also any fault developed later, you are on your own.
How much is he selling the car for? If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.0
