For the first time ever I’m teetering on the edge of the 10% off target. I’ve also received £5 off £40 spend. Shame I didn’t get that last week when I spent £85 mainly on garden stuff 😐 I think I cleared them out of the expanding trellis 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

The party invite sounds charming. Do you have a headdress / tiara from your wedding you could wear? Somewhere like the Cl&&re shop will sell cheap tiaras... I'd want one now if I were you!!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@badmemory - I really try to avoid the club card place as much as possible. I find it outrageous to see 2 entirely different prices for the same item. I know most supermarkets and Bo ots are doing it too but somehow tes co annoys me the most.
@Makingabobor2 - it's a £250 spend to get the 10% off. We do most of our shopping at L's so we often hit the target. We use the 10% off voucher to start the month with a stock up shop where we buy our store cupboard essentials, big box of cat food, laundry stuff etc.
@savingholmes - I will keep an eye open for a tiara or similar in the charity shops. I don't want to upset the 3 year olds though 😃
I had a nice catch up with a former work colleague this afternoon. I was surprised but equally not surprised that they still haven't concluded the piece of work that I left them with when I retired in 2023!Such beautiful weather this afternoon it was a perfect spring day.Money wise everything seems to be on track and I'm not expecting any nasty surprises before the end of the month.
mrBC has listed some items from the garage on eBay. Hopefully they will sell and free up some space and put some money into the holiday fund. I've concluded that as fast as we top up the holiday pot we book a trip so we will need to keep filling it up. Some of our trips are just for 1 night but it's nice to be able to enjoy different places and visit friends and family.5 -
Hooray - one of the EBay items has sold for £75 which is great. It's an old techy item that I don't understand but clearly someone out there wanted it.
the H&WB/vet, dentist etc pot has now reached its £500 target. I set myself the challenge of getting 2 savings pots up to £500 each by the end of quarter 1 of 2025 and I've managed it so I'm very pleased with that. Will ponder quarter 2 aims but I think holiday pot and car pot can be the focus.I finally recycled some medicine blister packs at Boots today and got 300 advantage card points which went towards a treat body lotion. Win win! Also only paid for 1 hour's parking in town which meant that there was no question of stopping for a coffee. We came home and enjoyed good coffee in the garden. Sunshine and bird song and the smell of washing drying was so much nicer than a costalot in the precinct.8 -

Feeling very happy to have received lots of nice Mother's Day messages, cards and gifts from our communal children. I tend to think of the day in terms of my mum and my role as her daughter rather than my own role as a mum iyswim. Anyway there are lots of us missing our mums today but we were lucky to have them and they are always in our hearts.4

Really good wins there blackcats! And glad you had a lovely mother's day.1

Another item has sold on e bay and is being collected tonight. Hopefully this will encourage further listings. We are getting a new shed in the next few weeks which will help us sort out the garage and I'm determined not to move stuff from the garage to the shed and then shut the garage door and forget about the contents for another few months.
there is some surplus money left for re-allocating before the April budget starts which is always pleasing and lots of tasks have been ticked off my lists thanks to the March into Spring challenge. I tackled v media about my dad's account and prevented a £30 a month hike in charges. I ended up getting him an 18 month contract at £23 a month less than he is paying now. I do wonder if companies like v media and s*y are starting to realise that folk just don't have the money and/or are no longer prepared to spend such exorbitant amounts.3 -
I think some companies have been extracting the Michael for so long they thought they were immune from people actually doing that double take. They have been taking money from people for absolutely nothing. There comes time for a reckoning eventually. I confess though that I struggle to watch everything I intend to watch on just terrestrial TV, so there is no way I am paying extra to not watch other things. Up to 2 hours a day is more than enough. But then I always record anything I want to watch as that way if there are adverts I can fast forward, put the kettle on or go to the loo.1
