the pesky frog is nearly consumed and I just need to get the cooperation of another person and then it will be done. It's an important thing to get done which is why I'm in danger of creating a struggle for myself to get it over the line.
We are having work done on our roof which whilst not urgent is needed. Inevitably a few extra jobs have emerged now the roofers are up there but they have photographed what's needed and actually included most of it into the original price. The weather has been bright and sunny which is ideal for them. Money will come from the house and garden pot which is looking battered and bruised at the end of the year.
Whilst roofers were clambering over the roof we made the most of the sunshine and went for a lovely walk. Took flasks with us and slices of the surprisingly nice chocolate and potato cake I made this week. A low carb cake option it probably isn't 😋
Have opted into the 🐙 power saving scheme but I'll reserve judgement as to whether it's worthwhile as the email says that the potential savings are much lower than previously.

Sorry about the roof costs but being wind and watertight does give a lot of peace of mind. Hope you are enjoying your garden room.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@savingholmes - whilst we would rather not have spent the money, neither of us are in any doubt that it is sensible and worthwhile getting the roofing work done.
@Sarahwithlove it's surprising how many little treats can be sourced from things we already have. I did buy the yank-ee candle advent calendar which is a Christmas tradition but otherwise I'm trying to shop from home and create simple, cosy fun.
started my jewellery advent with pearls - well a fake m n s pearl necklace and earrings and one of my mum's set of 3 rings. When mum stopped going round the shops she enjoyed browsing through various catalogues and buying bits and bobs. This is the first time I've worn this trio of rings which are in a coppery gold and deep burgundy colour.First candle has been lit and the Christmas mugs have been hooked out of the back of the cupboard.Had a very pleasing end of month surplus across my monthly spending pots, round up pot and chase rewards of £163.00. I divvied this up to top up holiday pot, replacement & repairs pot and the teeth, eyes & vet pot.4 -
Sparkly earrings from the spendy era for today's advent jewellery choice - Swar ov ski probably although I can't even remember buying them let alone how much they added to the credit card bill. Oh well at least I enjoyed them today and they accompanied me to dancercise and Lidl so their world has expanded out of the dark box in the dark drawer where they have been languishing.1

I wore snowflake earrings to work today 😆 Hope your earrings enjoyed their day free from their box 🙂I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Oh they sound fabulous, and how brilliant they accompanied you to dancercise and lidl 😊1

The earrings sound very fabulous indeed - mine today are some pretty celtic knot style studs which I had completely forgotten about owning until I found them in the bottom of an old jewellery box!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

How lovely to be part of a sparkly happy group of MSE earring wearers for advent.
like @EssexHebridean I retrieved my understudy jewellery box today to see what forgotten treasures I could find. I found a single silver and pearl earring that was part of a necklace and earring set my mum bought me. It made me feel sad because I'd lost the other one and in fact bought a new similar pair when we were in Guernsey this year. Then a ping moment when I thought that there was also a solitary earring in my main jewellery box that had been looking reproachfully at me for a couple of years. I was so happy to find that I actually had 2 lone earrings in 2 different places. No prizes for guessing what mega happy making earrings and necklace I'm wearing today. So thank you @PennysIntoPounds - reuniting the set means so much to me.
I cashed out £38.00 from November's Prolific earnings and used £20 to have a stock up on audio books that were in the audible sale. Used the rest to buy tickets for a coffee morning at a museum where we are members. £10 each for coffee and a bacon roll plus a chance to see a collection of items from their archives that are not usually on display. Yes, I know £20 + £10 + £10 doesn't = £38.00.
heck that's a great example of Foxgloves' wishrithmetic.
