I wish I could get Mr F to list some stuff for auction. He has some really nice shirts which he has never worn. He was doing really well with weight loss at the time, so bought some sale stuff in a smaller size, not realising that even as a decreasing version of himself, he will still have wide shoulders which need a bigger shirt. I am sure they would sell, but he is of the mind that such sites are populated mostly by skankers out to rob people, so if they are going to be listed, I'd have to do it. Hmmm. I did used to sell quite a bit of stuff, but it is time consuming & I'm not sure I want to return to it. Am torn between offering so as to get the money added to our Clothing Pot or simply donating to a charity shop.

  • Might as well try listing especially if they're new condition @foxgloves. Vinted doesn't get you much money but I've found them to be very reliable and the people on there seem to have a good attitude.
One of my neighbours was chucking out a perfectly good Arsenal shirt today so I nabbed that and might list it- and yes I am prepared for a jibe @Blackcats 😁

LOL at Mr BC listing like it's a Ming vase.

Good luck with your grocery challenge.

Sounds like you are making good use of the gym.

I don't do selling of stuff these days as I just find it interminably boring. Don't get me wrong, if things relied on it, then I would, but I wouldn't enjoy it much, and as (halleluiah) things AREN'T that tight, I exercise my option not to! (And yes, I really do appreciate my privilege in this respect!)

@foxgloves - re Vinted I agree with @PennysIntoPounds (although I never agree with her about football)
Its quick and easy to list items, buyer organises a postage label and payment is made promptly.  The sale prices are not high though but I've find it a good way to clear items and make a few £'s.
the "Ming vase"  has been listed on eBay and another item has moved up the queue for MrBC to list.
It's helping us declutter and that's one of our main aims for this year.

the shredder has been working hard this week reminiscent of the offices of a dodgy Ponzi scheme billionaire (I've just been watching The Monster of Wall Street about Bernie Madoff which is interesting and shocking).  Lots of out of date papers are getting disposed of and remaining papers being organised.  It's time consuming but will be worth it.

money wise a few good bits to report
car insurance company got in touch to say they hadn't calculated our No claims discount correctly and have refunded us £9.62
a few surveys done -I cash out mid month so I'm upping my game for a few days to boost my total
i used my 🐙 referral code to switch my dad and earn us both £50 credit.  His current supplier are not great - he is £700 in credit and getting any back for him is nigh on impossible
used our Dobbies card for a free tea and coffee when we were out and about today which was a nice treat,  we didn't buy a slice of cake for £4!!! The cake had just been put out on display and it was cut into 16 slices at £4 a slice which makes it a very valuable cake indeed

I made Katsu chicken for tea.  I made the sauce from scratch and it was very, very tasty.  I served it with stir fry veggie noodles which used up a red pepper, mushrooms, onions, carrots and broccoli.  MrBC had a bit of a mutter about lots of vegetables on his plate but he bravely managed to eat the lot.

  • Oh a big WELL DONE to Mr BC on the veggies - WHAT a good lad he is! Honestly - you have to chuckle at them don't you!

The katsu sounds nice - I just had a look at the BBC Good Food recipe for it and it looks like something I might fancy trying at some stage, even if just the sauce. I like the fact that you can make it with less heat without it being less authentic too.

@lucielle and @EssexHebridean - such drama over a few veggies.

The katsu curry sauce is definitely worth making - it was very aromatic whilst it was bubbling away and I think it would be versatile with other dishes.  I bought the ready breaded chicken which worked well.

spent some money yesterday on some clothes for 2 of our grandchildren.  They are growing very quickly and their parents have just had to spend a small fortune on some unavoidable work to their house so it is a nice, practical way to help out without appearing to be patronising

I was particularly pleased with my money saving efforts as follows ....
went via £co 3.75% cash back and free delivery
chose from the 3 for 2 kids range
Left the items in the online basket and ignored first prompt to complete purchase email.  2nd prompt email gave me 20% off
Mr "veggie dodger" blackcats had converted nectar points to m n s vouchers so got another £10 off

they nearly ended up paying me for the purchases 😀

MrBC is making Thai prawn red curry tonight as a Friday night fakeaway which I'm really looking forward to.  Instead of wine we've got a fancy fever 🌳 tonic water, sliced lime, mint and ice.  Fresh pineapple for dessert.

hoping for a low spend weekend - fridge , freezer, fruit bowl and cupboards are full.

Not going to succumb to the Valentine's Day hype.  I looked at the m n s £25 meal deal but not convinced that's it's great value for money based on the choices we would make.  I have got a nice table runner with some hearts on and some sparky heart coasters (from a previous spendy chapter) so we can shop from home to create a nice ambience.  I might make a Victoria sponge for Mr BC as it's his absolute favourite.
  • It's my absolute favourite too, just saying...

Well done on the energy switch for your dad.

£25 sounds steep for an 'eating in' at home meal.
