@lucielle - it's such a joy to turn over photos and see my mum's writing saying who is who on the back of the pick.  There are also some of my primary school photos with my nan's writing on the back - my full name including middle names  and date of photo.

You aren't reading that wrong @Sun_Addict. 😁 MrBC and I both have children from previous marriages and some of our children have got more than the average 2.4 children.  Christmas and birthdays are expensive but we feel lucky to have so many lovely little people in our lives.
have you considered that the money to purchase TV sets for all offspring next Christmas could save you further expenses on the grandchildren front in the future?!

Sounds like the study revamp really is coming on well - and with plenty of shopping from home wins too!

We're going to be well into our energy credit this month I think - I can see our heating has popped itself on three times during the day today as the temperature has dropped low enough - that will at least mean it will be cosier when we arrive home though as it won't have to try to get the house right up from a really low temperature.

We made a gastropub style dinner tonight.  Provençal fish with pasta which was tasty but not necessarily a recipe to repeat.  I also made hazelnut meringue with chocolate and banana - yummy and very, very sweet!  We go to my dad's on a Sunday afternoon/evening so we don't have the chance for a traditional Sunday lunch but it's still nice to enjoy a special meal when we get home.

I did some money shuffling this morning which crossed a few things off the task list.  I was also a very brave grown up person and did initial calculations on our budgets until end of May.  We are going to have a temporary dip in income and a rise in costs until the end of May.  After then the situation will permanently reverse but it's important for us to be aware of the reality of the next few months.  I need to go over my scribbled sums again tomorrow and check them but it's not quite as bad as I had assumed and I now feel equipped and I'm feeling motivated to mitigate the damage as best I can and emerge into June in a good place.  Carefully watching our spending will be key and a bit of belt tightening will be helpful.  I've got a contingency fund in place  to plug the gap but I'd like to be able to not spend it all.

Very blustery outside tonight although not as cold.  Time for a cuppa, Vera and some knitting.

Well done on your budget wrangling BC - isn't it a good feeling when we do something that we might have been guilty of sticking our head in the sand over and it turns out to not be as bad as feared? not least as it's a good incentive to remember why we should just crack on with the next thing that fits the scary mould too. Good work on the contingency fund too - so will that be your next financial challenge then - seeing how much of that fund you can leave untouched?

Good work on the sale as well - as said, it all helps!
