We are all incensed on your behalf. That they aren't even young adults finding their way makes it seem worse too. Glad you are standing your ground.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'm incensed too!
As for gift bags... mine weren't even as complex as drawstring 😂 Just rectangles, with two bits of ribbon sewn into the side hem near the top. Shove the present in, tie the ribbon round 😊1 -
Thank you all for your communal support on my continued mutterings about the European family contingent. I'm always relieved that they are MrBC's family so thankfully I don't share any of their DNA. Mr BC is more hacked off with them than I am so at least we can moan about them together. We've started our November grocery challenge well - as it's only 2nd November that's hardly a massive achievement but we've used up a couple of things that have been lurking in the cupboard including butterscotch angel delight. I don't remember buying it but with the addition of a sliced banana it was bloomin lovely. We also had to pop to town today and OH suggested we park in lidls car park and nip in for a few bits and bobs but as we didn't need any bits or bobs we found a short stay free space on a side road and did what we needed.6

If I ever need to go to the High Street in the next time I often park in Lidl car park as you get 1.5 hours free parking which is plenty of time. I then pop in and pick up a tin of tomatoes or a carton of UHT milk and stick it in the pantry. It'll always get used! There are no local roads with free parking around!

I love the butterscotch one too.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

@joedenise - we couldn't trust ourselves to buy sensible things in Lidl. We were discussing chocolate and crisps so we walked away from temptation.
@savingholmes - my favourite is banana flavour angel delight but its not often on sale in our shops. So today, I'm busy kicking myself for messing up my November grocery budget by completely forgetting a hello fresh order. I meant to cancel membership after I'd had my heavily discounted boxes but stupidly I didn't. I must have moved delivery way into the distance and forgotten about it. To make things worse they chose the meals for me and they are completely uninspiring.
anyway, MrBC pronounced in a sanguine way that I need to learn from my mistakes or forever be destined to repeat them! He made me a consoling cup of tea and I've now cancelled my membership and will NOT be tempted by any more discount offers. I also checked any other subscription services that we have and have cancelled or managed them all. We do buy our dishwasher tablets from Smol as they seem to work best for us but I've moved delivery to December as we have plenty in stock. The cat food delivery is moved to December too but he'll be fine as he has a big unopened bag of his personalised recipe food in the cupboard. So I might be able to salvage the grocery budget. If not I shall balance the books from my personal spends budget a which I really, really will resent.3 -
Sympathies with Hello Fresh, how vexing. I did something similar recently, forgetting to cancel a magazine subscription after the initial 3 for £3 offer 🙄 It made me go through and check everything else too! 😂1

That does sound annoying - it sounds like it prompted you to sort out a load of other things thoughAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Oh that is annoying, but as SH said, at least it prompted you to assess your other subscriptions. Maybe you can have a November game of seeing just how cheap you can be, you might even end up with a handy surplus in time for Christmas spending in December!1
