@foxgloves - I hope the remaining slots in your toaster continue to do their toasting for a long time to come. @savingholmes - I'm sure you can claim a sustainability win for your kettle repair as well as saving your student money.
we've had a busy few days with family and friends - feeling very blessed but am enjoying a quiet evening at home now. We made a big pot of hearty chili tonight and will have it again tomorrow with a jacket spud and then freeze 2 portions. I'm really trying to keep ion track with grocery spends this month so this feels like a good contribution to achieving that.Came home to a brown envelope from my pension provider which I assumed was unimportant and maybe a newsletter. In my quest to be more organised I decided to open it and deal with it immediately. Well what joy - a significant back payment is on its way to me - there was an incomprehensible explanation of why - so I'm keeping a watch out for that unexpected bonus.6 -
Fabulous news 🥳I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

thank you for your good wishes about the pension back pay - it hasn't arrived yet which is just as well as I haven't yet worked out a plan for where to put it - a few years ago that would have said "I haven't worked out a plan of how to spend it but even though I haven't got it yet I started spending it straight away"
we took advantage of an Easter meal deal at our local brewers fayre last night - 2 courses for 2 people = £20 and OH had a voucher for a free bottle of wine. The food was quite nice and it was good to sit and chat. Popped the half full wine bottle in my handbag and brought it home - classy.

Wouldn’t be very MSE to have left the wine on the table! I would have brazenly walked out with it in my hand - wouldn’t fit in my bag😂2

Good point about the wine - zero waste - although the half bottle is still in the fridge. Might have a glass with dinner tonight. We are having home made chicken kebabs with various side dishes so I think a glass of white is a good choice to accompany.
OH sold an item of tech on e bay last night - he got a much higher price than he hoped for. Judging by the fairly loud mutterings and expletives coming from the study I think he is trying to print the posting label. It's probably not a good moment to ask him what he's going to sell next so I'll pick my time for that. It's part of our de-cluttering process in a drive for a simpler, more organised life. The money is very welcome too but we are also donating items to charity shops. I've sold a couple of things on vinted - very easy process and again a welcome few £'s into the kitty.
lots of rain so far today but the sun is out now so perhaps we'll take a chance and go for a walk.5 -
Ooh, good to hear you've had a good experience with Vinted, I'm having a gentle clear out at the minute and was considering using it, but I don't think I know anyone who has. Will investigate.2
