You are all making me want to go to the cinema. May see if DD wants to go with me at some point.

Go for it SH!  Don't forget meerkat movies - buy a cheap insurance policy and get 2 for 1 on a Wednesday for a year.  Obviously I didn't remember to do that 🤣.  The new Elvis film sounds good.

Phew I have managed to reach the current page of your diary. An inspirational read as I am still getting to grips with budgets not helped by the number of pensions coming in at different times. I will work it out eventually.

Aww thank you LadyHolly.  Not sure about being an inspiring read but my diary has helped me to completely change my approach to spending and saving (better late than never I suppose).  I enjoy reading your diary updates - you are tenacious at reducing that loan.

pleased that this month's gas/electricity usage is less than my direct debit - not by much and the colder/darker months will mean that the current amount isn't sustainable.  I've now got £220 credit in the account and I'm putting £50 aside each month as a buffer.  Scary times and I really feel for people who have no leeway in their budgets.

very happy that all my pensions paperwork has now been sent off to the giant pensions management organisation .... I'm hoping that it's relatively straightforward ...

I'm starting to notice that I'm gradually being able to move some work to other people and not having to be included in meeting invites for the autumn ....so excited (and a bit scared).

have had good hauls from olio this weekend - watermelon, apricots, jersey royals, courgettes and blackcurrant Jaffa cakes which I'm really uncertain about.  I think I like them but they seem intrinsically wrong 🙃

    Blackcurrants Jaffas do sound wrong!

Glad that things are moving forward at work for your semi-retirement. As you say good that you learned the lessons early enough to have this option.

The House Troll and I went to see the Elvis film. I'm an Elvis fan but I thought that the HT would be bored. He sat transfixed through the whole thing and now says that he understands why I'm into Elvis.

Blackcurrant jaffas are ok but wrong .... in the interest of research I had another one today
I liked it but didn't want to like it.  Only half a packet left .....

Cranky, thanks for the feedback on Elvis.  I've heard good things about it.  I'm glad the house troll enjoyed it too.

paid another hefty chunk of the monstrous council tax bill which takes me to 49% paid off.  I worked out the £'s I could afford this month not the % to pay off which is why I ended up with 49% which is an irritating percentage.  I'm going to try and squeeze another 1% from somewhere which will take my climb to the top of the mountain ⛷

Is it heresy to say I dont like Jaffa cakes. I use to buy them for the granddaughters when they were little as I knew I wouldnt touch them. :D

I'd don't like Jaffa cakes either!  can't stand chocolate and orange together.
