So, there's some cases in my village and a death in a town over.
And the parents on my road are talking about setting up a rota so the kids can play out on the street. I've said they can take my son off it, he won't be going out.
Strange old times.
Budget is looking okay. Parent's are sad to be coming home. I'm glad to be giving all their responsibilities back. Especially as I'm currently running 3 offices.0 -
I think you are right to be extra careful with your son and playing out. It's very hard for children but this time will pass and their safety is most important. Do you have a garden.? Martin Lewis' weekly email had some good free things for kids to do this week. Did you get it? What a strange world your parents will come home to.0

I have to say I didn't see anyone out, but I was only home after 3pm.
We do have a garden, and they've cleared up a lot of mess today.
My son seems to be fine. Super excited by doing his school work. I've set up everything for tomorrow, so he's good to go.
MOT can wait until this has all died down, so I've chucked £100 back into car savings.0 -
Made pulled pork yesterday, used leftovers to make chilli and there is enough left over for someone's lunch tomorrow too. Asked the boyfriend what he wanted for tea tomorrow and he said food. So I think I'll not cook and see what they do unless they have answers forthcoming. It is a bit annoying to be the planner all the time and other people just expect there to be a meal ready, without the appreciation that someone has to plan and make and have the forethought to start cooking before anyone is hungry.
Anyway, the bookpeople appear to have cancelled my order as the money out isn't out nor is it pending anymore0 -
He took mince out while I was at work, so he had listened. Unfortunately he's said he can't work with my son at home and can I take him to work with me one day next week. Urgh. I might have to take him to school... I can't really take him in at the moment when there's risk of infection.
My parents have safely returned. And less than 12 hours in my mother is already declaring that she "can't live like this!"
I bough 3 jacket potatoes and 4 pints of milk from our village shop and met morons who a) tried to come in after seeing me go in and seeing the signs saying only one person in at a time, b) tried to go in together, despite only allowing one person in at a time and c) stood right in front of the f4cking door, not 2 meters away, which I know they knew to do as they saw me standing there when they arrived! I may or may not have threatened to lick them.
We're going out as little as we can to the least crowded places and still get thwarted by stupidity.
Anyway, just a £4.50 shop for now. I know we will need more bread during the week, but hopefully, other than that, we should be ok. It's looking like I will finish the month with leftover pennies, so I'll be able to pop more into my pots.0 -
So! I have £213.77 leftover, I like to start the month on £2k. I've popped £200 into savings and keeping the £13.77 for now. I might bake some bread when I get home in order to avoid going out again. Then I have a whole £13.77 to spend. Whoopee!0

Well done having money for savings. How is your new food budget now that there are 3 to feed?1

Not great. The boy is ok but the boyfriend is acting like a baby. There's plenty of food in... Ok... Veg is dwindling and fruit is almost all gone, but there's still plenty enough. I had moved the school dinner budget over to groceries so we were ok. Trying to eek things out until next Monday. I can see we need milk and I baked a loaf and know I'll need to do another one.
Might need more wine if people keep !!!!!! me off though.1 -
From my own experience when I changed from buying random food as and when I wanted to with no particular meal plan and then started buying what I actually needed it made me feel uncomfortable. I felt like there was a lack of "stuff" in the cupboards/fridge. A bit like teenagers throwing open the cupboards and fridge and then pronouncing "there's nothing to eat" before flouncing off 😠. Maybe the boyfriend is used to cupboards full of stuff but no real meals and no careful budget?Have you got time to make any of your lovely cakes and biscuits. That will make all the household very happy I'm sure1

Hi, not really, I've seen his kitchen. He's used to eating out, either at a restaurant or friends places when he's not here. I think he's mostly just bored. We were given a big box of biscuits for helping with the fence for our neighbours. I also bought in other biscuits, chocolate and crisps. My son's birthday was last week and I made a super yummy birthday cake. I leveled off the tops, so we're now having those crumbled up, warmed up and served with ice cream. The recipe makes so much cake I even wrapped and froze a layer.
I've been asked to get more milk, squash and meat from the butcher. So much for avoiding the shops.
All in all we do have plenty. It's just I'm not going out to pick up whatever they fancy. I think that I generally cook quite healthy and balanced meals and he's missing the extra fat and having a veg overload. Lol.0
