  • I love to rearrange my furniture all the time, which is why I've never wanted a corner sofa, but I'm happy to compromise. After ordering laminate samples (free) the boyfriend has now said that he agrees, it could be a bit cold. We can always get a nice big rug though.
In amazing news though! Back before Christmas I had a £250 water bill, which I knew was due to the toilet cistern breaking and flowing water through for two days. Well, when I went to the water website to submit a meter reading to avoid a huge bill if they thought my water usage had quadrupled, I just happed to see "apply for a leak allowance". I figured that there's no harm in trying. I applied yesterday and got a text this morning telling me that they're crediting my account with £155.20! I'm absolutely thrilled! So this quarter's water bill money (I had budgeted £100) can hop on over into the house and garden pot!

In spendy terms I've ordered 5 new bras as mine truly have kicked the bucket. I went through t0pcashback, had a free delivery code, and two were on sale for half the original price and I used my half of the clothing pot. So it's a good spend all in all. Now I just have to wait for them to arrive!

well done on the water re-claim, it was worthwhile filling in the form for that. 👏  I wonder how many people wouldn't bother or know how to do it and miss out on getting a refund.
That money will be a great boost for your savings pots.
  • Thanks. I didn't know about it, I just happened to see it.
One car insurance kept saying it timed out when I tried to pay - it didn't like that I went through a cashback site. Phonecall did no good, so I tried another insurers, managed to get a cheaper insurance still (only £10, but still) and get £35 cashback. And it's less than when I checked quotes a couple of weeks ago.
The boy has swimming lessons after Easter, with school, that need paying now. So I did that too. And I contacted his cello hire re a smaller cello and rehairing the bow. Just need to hear back from them for when it's ready to swap.

All in all a productive day after yesterday's migraine wipeout!

Now on to make tea and bake sale treats!

    Wouldn't that be a very different job - a bow re-hairer 😁
  • Lol, I think it would come under general instrument maker... Or rather string/cello maker.

Good news about the new bra order that got cancelled ( not by me!) They've said if I replace my order they'll give me 10% off. I won't be saving anything as my free delivery code has expired and the items have gone up, but it should cost the same, pretty much, which I'm happy with.
  • Things are feeling a bit overwhelming. Friend going through breakup issues, son being a typical 9 year old. The dog driving me mad, the school having sports day (no, not that kind, the dress up, pay a donation kind), bake sale, swimming lessons for summer term forms and payments all at the same time, the boyfriend is poorly so I've told him to not come up this weekend, it's too far if he's poorly, mum texting me asking me to go here, do that, buy this, rearrange that, call this person, make sure you give this other person a call. Just feeling a tad bit under demand. Son has some cello club thing to go to on Saturday afternoon. 2-4pm. I think I'll bring some English paper piecing (handsewing) and do that while I'm there if I'm not sure about leaving him.

Anyway, feeling a bit fed up, but the budget is going ok for now, which is something, roll on April when I don't have 3 houses, workmen, dogs or anything else squashing me, just a normal level of stuff.

Gosh, you have got a lot going on.  Parents, child, dog all depending on you at the moment.  Hopefully you will work through each demand bit by bit,  perhaps Saturday 2 - 4 could be your relaxation time.
How much longer are your parents away?

Hope you are ok.  Enjoy your weekend x
  • Thanks. They're away until the end of the month. We had to go to the supermarket as I couldn't get any delivery slots like normal. That said we took the opportunity to go to a new Lidl and we stocked up with things we can only get there, like their Jaffa cakes which are so much nicer than normal ones.

The cello club was cancelled because of the virus so we have a free afternoon, and I feel like having a nap!

I've just been to Lidl's.  No toilet paper, semi-skimmed milk or red.  Luckily I found aero balls so all will be well.
So many things being cancelled at the moment.  Schools are just about staying open I think.
