Cats - Help!!!

I used to have a carpet cat scratching post but then bought a coir(?) one.

My cat stopped using it.

When I picked him up and took him to his new post, he physically recoiled from the coir. He really hated the feel of it. So I reverted to the carpet one.

I did find that he preferred to scratch on the bottom (base) of the post so I put a spare piece of carpet under the post to avoid mishaps when he was in full scratch mode.

Try spraying all the places they use as a scratcher or maybe cutting nails might also help. My cat starts scratching the sofa when it's time to trim his nails
