I used to have a carpet cat scratching post but then bought a coir(?) one.
    My cat stopped using it.
When I picked him up and took him to his new post, he physically recoiled from the coir. He really hated the feel of it. So I reverted to the carpet one.
I did find that he preferred to scratch on the bottom (base) of the post so I put a spare piece of carpet under the post to avoid mishaps when he was in full scratch mode.
  • Try spraying all the places they use as a scratcher or maybe cutting nails might also help. My cat starts scratching the sofa when it's time to trim his nails
People say nothing is impossible, but we do nothing every day.
