They are butchering my credit report due to their errors and i am going round in circles the past month trying to sort it out. Its like talking to robots on email with them. No phone number or anything.
What organisation do i complain to about them and my credit report?
ICO?
thanks

Yes. ICO regulate the holding and processing of data.0

What "butchering" is taking place?
They only report as lenders advise them to report.0 -

If creditors are logging incorrect information on your credit file, you need to speak to them, not the CRA.
The CRA just reports the information it recieves, its not the publisher of the data.
Take this up with the creditors via a written complaint, then escalate to the ICO if not successful.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi Guys,
I will explain the situation so its clear. The issue is in regards to one account. There was some data that needed to be amended for that account. The account was closed in 2016 but some payment history needed to be corrected. The lender updated all the CRA Agencies to report the correct data. All CRA reported the correct data on my credit report for the account payment history.
However,Transunion for some reason changed the status to instead of 'settled' to 'up to date'. Even though it also shows the account was closed in 2016 on the same report they have changed the status to 'up to date'. There is also a notice of correction on there that ive asked them to remove which they still havent.
For the past month ive been going around in circles, first they tell me everything will be amended accordingly, then they say wait 14 days. Then they closed the complaint saying its all sorted. One and half months later nothing has changed and when i keep raising the issue with them, they say wait we have done it. Now they are saying they have to contact the lender and cant do anything to change the data and cant remove the Notice of Dispute.
Ive argued this back and forth and they have stopped respondong. My arguements are
1 - REMOVE THE NOTICE OF DISPUTE, I DONT WANT THAT ONE THERE AND NEVER AUTHORISED IT
2 - They have already contacted the lender who has agreed to changed the data, why are they contacting them again for the same reason!
3 - They do not need to contact the lender because THEIR own report shows the account closed in 2016 which the lender has confirmed but the status is 'up to date' instead of 'settled'. This is an issue with TRANSUNION not with the lender
Its a nightmare talking to them on email, its like a bunch of robots who give me generic responses. Ive complained to them via email but they are useless. Not sure what else to do
P.S - No other issues with any of the CRA apart from Transunion regarding this account. They all have reported it correctly with the amendments made by the lender0 -
I can't help but think that if you stopped faffing around trying to massage your credit report you'd have a much easier life.0

Well not really. I am trying to correct mistakes, i cant just ignore them. My experience of dealing with all three CRA agencies has been a nightmare. None of them know what they are talking about in general and its always standard robotic responses. Its unfair they have so much control and power over someones life0

Based on your previous posts, many of them aren't mistakes at all.
But even if they all were, you're making a rod for your own back IMO by expending massive amounts of energy trying to correct what appear to be, at best, very trivial mistakes.0 -
The CRA's only report what the lenders tell them to report.
A closed account changing from "settled" to "up-to-date" is neither here nor there in the scheme of things.0
