I don't understand why some people are saying that's acceptable on a car? Are the legalities different?

Yes they are, although I wouldn't expect any reduction in just 24 hours.

I'm confused. If this were a 24hr old washing machine that was faulty for example, you wouldn't expect a reduction on the refund for an admin fee.

    It's a very simple difference.

Reasonable expectations of a 15yo washing machine would not be the same as a new one.

This isn't a 24hr old car. It's one that's a single bill away from scrapping.

because getting £1100 back without a fight is better than fighting in court for the £1200 and then even if you win there is a chance the dealer wont pay

Wasnt raining that day, is it a Corsa known fault.

Yes its a known fault with corsas. The leak is where the rubber seal has deteriorated between the engine and the rest of the car. It can be fixed, but it means taking out parts of the engine (nothing too technical) to get access to the broken seal. We used a type of roof sealant to do it - worked like a charm.

It is the seal between the brake servo and the bulkhead, above the driver's feet. Very very common. Youtube has loads of videos on fixing it, here is the 1st hit

Don't know why a garage wouldn't know how common it is.
Most likely the car was kept under cover until the OP bought it.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
