Do you get a backpayment after your MR from PIP?

My son was awarded PIP after going to a tribunal for uncontrolled epilepsy only for the DWP to reassess 18 months later and take it away again despite his condition deteriorating. One year later we are still waiting for another tribunal date - been told minimum of 14 months so fingers crossed.0
