One thing I left off from yesterday’s travelogue: two separate occasions we saw a solitary bull lying down in a paddock - they were enormous & looked absolutely bored to tears or maybe just sad that they had no cows to ‘play‘ with 🤣
Sunday has been overcast & dull all day & quite chilly apart from a 5 minute view of a hazy sun ☹️ A hot breakfast set us up for the day - full Scottish for DH, scrambled eggs & mushrooms on toast for me together with a slice of toast & marmalade. Left rather late, 10:15 a.m. & started the journey back to England via lots of old & new landmarks. The only ‘exciting’ thing was that we used the Queensferry Crossing to cross the river Forth but decided to cross back using the Forth Road Bridge - an absolute no-no (now just buses, taxis & 125cc motorbikes - we are anticipating a £50 penalty notice arriving in the post in the next couple of a weeks ☹️ Stopped off at about 2:00 p.m. for a comfort break + coffee & cake. Finally arrived at our pub hotel The Grantham Arms in Burroughbridge a couple of minutes before 7:00 p.m. & pleaded for dinner - the kitchen was about to close 😱 Went to our room & were back down - changed & faces scrubbed - within 10 minutes 😉 First beer on tap 🥳 & dinner was lovely. DH had pan-fried tiger prawns on samphire & the last steak in ale pie with mash, shredded cabbage & lashings of gravy. I had tomato & garlic oil soup followed by fish pie topped with cheesy mash & shredded cabbage. My fish pie was more than enough for 2 people with healthy appetites 😉 - even DH couldn’t help me finish it 😱
Everything was absolutely delicious 🤤 DH has paid the bill including tomorrow’s breakfast
We were upstairs in our room before 9:00 p.m. as both of us are exhausted. I nipped down for my last cigarette - no hedgehog tonight ☹️Wildlife: horses, cows, sheep, seagulls, swallows, bees, a solitary hawk circling.
Thanks Nicnak 👏 Shame about the cancellation of the garage conversion but I think you can probably get storage units from Freegl* & then tart them up a bit. A project that you would probably enjoy 😉 With a skip coming you will have plenty of room.
Ooh, yes please boazu 🥺🙂🙂 - mine was a combination of 2 recipes & I forgot to write down my version ☹️😔 I quite agree that our stores should only be extras of the food we know & love 🙂 Talking about weather, I think this is our first trip into Scotland during which not a single drop of rain fell on us 🥳 - fortunately for us, we missed the deluge in Perth where apparently people were using canoes to go down the high street ☹️ The extremes of weather appear to be getting worse - either way too hot or way too much rain - no happy mediums any more 😔. Tongue in cheek 😛 I blame it on Boris 😛😜😝. You are definitely setting up your requirements for Hygge - sounds cosy & relaxed 😌 as an antidote to the bleakness of current life.
Wow, You have been busy bit_by_bit 👏 Refugee Centre, working at the CS & clearing out the garage 👏 If the camping stuff is useable, it might be worth hanging onto Justin 😉 you may be able to rent it out if you need a bit of cash 🤣
Wow, another busy bee Gem-gem 👏. That was a major card making project & as such I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️. That reminds me it is almost time to start writing my Christmas cards 😉😉😏
Oh dear elsien ☹️ I agree it is a shame that they didn’t plan better, but as you say it is an incentive to continue decluttering but responsibly 👏BE KIND. STAY SAFE. BREAK THE CHAIN. SAVE LIVES.MrsSD ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 🏅1484/2020
Thank you for my gold star. I normally write my Xmas cards at the end of October (Half Term) and then start to hand them out (saving postage). Then at the beginning of December I post the others. But this year I may wait until end of November to write them and post them all.Have been enjoying reading about your adventures. Fingers crossed that you don't get a fine.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Mrs_Salad_Dodger said:Great work jinnyisacat 👏 I especially liked that you helped your FIL & considered it getting away 😉 Keep up the good work 👏
My FIL is a lovely man and doesn't get any practical help from my BIL who lives just round the corner, so I try and I do what I can when we are there which isn't as often as I'd like as he is 250 miles away.
Another two bags to fabric recycling yesterday and I had a few sales on fleabay and another 5 due to finish in the next couple of days and whilst I don't include the fleabay stuff in my decluttering numbers (I account for it in the £2020 in 2020 thread), we seem to be making a bit of headway again.2025 Decluttering Campaign Mrs SD –The joy of decluttering 204/104(312)💐⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Apologies for missing a couple of days - sheer laziness on my part 😔 Anyway here goes 😉
Monday morning breakfast was a full English for DH & poached eggs on toast + toast & marmalade for me. Late leaving (10:15) as DH realised that 2 beers had been left off the bill that he paid Sunday night. My DH is as honest as they come & even gave a tip 👏🙂First stop was a farm shop, bought some goodies then for a wander - saw pigs, chickens, goats & alpacas. Very overcast which turned to rain an hour later. Rained on & off all the way home. One stop for petrol & one for coffee & cake. Arrived home just before 4:00 p.m.
Unpacked the bike, got changed, had a coffee & chat with DSis. I went into the garden to make sure all my veggies were still alive & yippee 🥳 nothing had died 🥳 so DSis had been watering regularly during the heatwave 🥵 that happened in London. I dead-headed the dahlia & picked 0.9kg of ripe tomatoes. (This years tomatoes are not as nice looking as last years ☹️). Dinner was burger & chips - ordered in. Left all the bags for Tuesday.
Tuesday was overcast but dry all day so did 2 full loads of washing which were line dried. Then washed & re-proofed DH’s motorbike trousers & put on line overnight. DH went to sm for soft drinks & potatoes 😉Other things I did - bags & toiletries put away; the least attractive tomatoes put into boiling water then skinned & chopped; visited neighbour’s garden & was given a bag of apples which have been chopped & cooked & bagged for freezer ready for making chutney; cooked dinner - chicken fried in butter, boiled potatoes & farm carrots; did the washing up.Wednesday it rained all day - bearing in mind the motorcycle trousers were on the washing line 😱 They are still there 😉 Dinner was pork steaks, boiled potatoes, farm shop cabbage & the hg tomatoes 🤤1485 - 1496 Four magazines, 2 newspapers, paper packaging, cardboard box, cardboard packaging, drinks cans, kitchen recycling, glass bottle - Recycled
1497 - 1500 Plastic packaging, 2 bags kitchen detritus, pair of DH’s Sunday socks - Binned
Well done TC77 👏 No ideas about the mice 🙁 - at least ours have the decency to stay outside & live in the garden box 😉 Hope all your hospital/medical appointments are now over & done with 🤞 Sorry about the puncture ☹️Thank you so much for the recipe boazu 👏 I bet the potatoes are really tasty 😋

30/52 - a forlorn pile has now disappeared. Most items returned to their rightful home and a few bits to bin/recycling. Clear space is good.10

De cluttered one very large and fibrous honeysuckle plant growing up a cast iron obelisk just outside the kitchen door, now root dug out and stems chopped and into the garden waste bin...gained one bed 4' x 6' in which we are going to plant curly kale for the winter and one large cast iron runner bean frame obelisk up which we shall grow runner beans next year in a different corner of the garden.8
