1. WRITE AND USE “TO DO LISTS” - MINIMUM 30 MINUTE BURSTS OF ACTIVITY AT LEAST TWICE EVERY DAY2. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT3. I WILL ENDEAVOUR TO BE NICE TO EVERYONE & TRY TO SEE THE FUNNY OR PECULIAR SIDE TO AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
4. DAY TO DAY DECLUTTERING WILL CONTINUESunday’s weather went rapidly downhill but a decent amount of rain so no watering required. Breadcrumbed fish, oven chips & peas for DSis & Bobotie pie for DH & I. I peeled all the parsnips & 2 huge sweet potatoes so there was lots of lo mash which was utilised for Monday’s lunch.
Monday has been overcast, dark & dreary with a bit of rain. I have finished knitting, sewing up & stuffing the comfort hearts for the NHS Appeal. They have been bagged, boxed & wrapped but won’t be posted until Thursday. I also mended the lining in my motorcycle trousers. Lunch was 3 rashers of bacon in the last slice of bread for DSis. DH & I had a fry up of lo parsnip & sweet potato mash, lo boiled potatoes, lo baked beans, lo roast tomatoes with bacon & fried eggs on top. Delicious 🤤 DSis went out to pick up her prescription & do a small sm shop for herself.
Dinner was mashed potatoes, green beans & pork steaks. DSis treated us to a Victoria sponge for afters.Tomorrow DH & I are off to Cornwall - Round Britain Rallying. Stopping overnight in a pre-booked hotel.1382 - 1384 Two lots of kitchen recycling, cardboard box - Recycled1385 - 1386 Kitchen detritus, office detritus - Binned1387 Box & wrapping paperNot techie myself, boazu. My solution - I open two MSE OS Forum tabs - Tab 1 - I quote my previous post, highlight & copy the section I want, then Paste into the Comment box on Tab 2 & continue my post in Tab 2. I love it “inner squirrel” indeed. I am hoping to make green tomato chutney again this year plus hoping that my olive tree is bounteous & I can pickle lots of olives for next year - the 2018 olives took 6 months before they were ready to eat 😱 & I didn’t get any olives off the tree last year ☹️ Excellent recycling 👏Nicnak, you could charge rent 😉Good work TC77 👏 I like the using of pretty bowls to make food more appetising 👏 Unfortunately I am overweight rather than overfat 🙁 Shame about the minuscule profit 🙁but the cs will be happy 😉Sounds like you are getting everything together in the new house Foofoopuppy 👏 It will soon be your new ‘home‘ with the amount of work you have already done 🙂 Getting extra storage space in your kitchen does actually count as decluttering 😉 - you are decluttering the stress of full cupboards 😉Good work elsien 👏 an eclectic mix of decluttering & the liberation of a small burn 😉Good work EnergyShifter 👏 & congrats on saving money on train tickets 👏
Good work short_bird 👏 better to be inching forward rather than sliding back 😉I am so impressed ailz95 - you are leading the way & it wasn’t a rant but a very succinct explanation of the way the world is. Keep up the good work & I will try to recycle less & reuse more.
If that is slowing down greent, I am a monkey’s uncle (aunt) 😉 Well done 👏Nice to see you LameWolf 👋
Wow 🤩 winspiration you are doing really well 👏 You have a vision & are working towards it - at quite a pace 👏 The craft shelving sounds great & probably looks even better. Fingers crossed 🤞 that your auction items raise lots of money for the animal charity. I must say that £1 seems a bit mean ☹️ so definitely put a reserve on.Good work nannywindow 👏 Could you utilise the blackout curtain liners in the garden?Pollybear, I agree that it seems rather silly that each council has different recycling rules. If only they could talk to each other & use the best ideas nationwide 🙂
Great work Gem-gem 👏Sounds like you had a good time visiting family bit_by_bit 🙂 and a real bonus in decluttering craft stuff. I had a vision of your craft cupboard doing a jig 🙂BE KIND. STAY SAFE. 5 more jars of chutney made this morning, rhubarb this time and a big jar of spiced pickled plums (l soaked them for 'beasties' and them left them to dry overnight. Have almost all I need for a batch of Military Pickle so that will be next preserve on the list and will mean more jars re-used and decluttered from the jar cupboard..
Currently have the dehydrator running to use up fruit that was needing using so a tray each of red grapes, green grapes, mixed black, logan and raspberries, blueberries and sliced strawberries which when dried will be added to muesli and other breakfast cereals or used in porridge as a topping.
Will be making some rhubarb cordial too as I have rhubarb left from the amount we picked for chutney.10 -

4. DAY TO DAY DECLUTTERING WILL CONTINUEUp & dressed in motorbike gear by 8:20 a.m. Leisurely cuppa, packed the bike & set off at 09:30 Tuesday. Posted birthday cards then set off across London - took just under an hour to reach the M4 - quite speedy. Rode for 2 hours & stopped at a services for coffee & shared a toastie. We sat outside & there were 3 rooks & a jackdaw fighting over crumbs 😱 the sparrow didn’t get a look in. The weather was mostly sunny & warm but a couple of spells of cloud but no rain & sudden temperature drops. Three old landmarks & 3 new landmarks + a petrol stop. Somerset is glorious - Rock of Ages Cleft was photographed. We saw several people getting ready to go spelunking. Devon is beautiful - lots of small roads with grass growing up the middle - Ledford Castle photographed. Arrived at our hotel in Cornwall - just outside Truro - 7:00 p.m. Checked in, shown our room, DH showered, I washed & changed & down to dinner by 8:15 p.m. All very clean, safe & well organised. DH had a Cumberland ring in a giant Yorkshire pudding with mash & peas. I had cottage pie with roast potatoes, mashed swede, carrots, sprouts & cauliflower cheese (vegetables were from the carvery) Several beers as well. Tasty food & very filling. Back in our room by 10:15 p.m.
A dearth of wildlife but did see - cows, sheep, horses, white ducks, 2 hawks, a common crane, rooks, jackdaw, unidentified small bird (will investigate when we return home), bees, wasps, butterflies. Lovely country smells - newly mown grass, outdoors manure smell (Weird I know but I do like the smell😜), freshly sawn wood & wood fires.
The strangest sight of the day - a group of people walking along some with masks, some without but one of the group wearing a cardboard box, covered in pink paper, with eye holes. The cardboard box was deep enough to rest on the person’s shoulders. Definitely keeping safe 😱🤣😜1388 Plastic bottle - RecycledGreat work Happy_Kitties 👏 & good luck with the Tip trip 😉
Yum yum 🤤 boazu 😋 Is October too soon to come & share your chutney & pickle 😆 . I can bring focaccia, bacon scones & maybe cake or biscuits 😉 Your “inner squirrel” must be leaping for joy 🙂We are luckier LameWolf - our council doesn’t get us to sort our recycling - everything in one bag or wheelie bin 🙂Good work TC77 👏BE KIND. We are in flats in a city and can only recycle glass, tins, cans, cardboard and plastic bottles. Large communal recycling bins in the car park.No batteries or yoghurt pots are allowed, no food waste, no garden bins, so lightbulbs are never going to be!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?10

Make it November Mrs.SD things will be ready to sample by then, if you eat them too soon after making them they taste vinegary but are much nicer when they've matured. Today is Military Pickle day, the chopped veg is being salted to de-gorge liquid and will have had it's 24 hours by 2ish this afternoon. Another smelly kitchen day but worth it in the depths of winter when the produce is opened and eaten beside the stove in a cosy warm room. Hubby has offered to get more of the Mirabelle plums so I can make some more pickled ones and there will be enough tomatoes in the greenhouse and in the garden ripe and ready to make some Tomato Chutney in a couple of days time. My inner squirrel is in full whiz mode and continually looking for things for me to preserve, I'm glad I've got it it keeps me out of mischief!6
