I think it's more like sifting through a pile of excrement in a third world nation for a dropped mobile phone. And that sort of behaviour results in people being killed by the smell (well, toxic gas buildups).

Sometimes it's not worth it, just let them go and get some new ideas that don't involve digging through !!!!.

Too true. The more nonsense that is posted on a forum (and effort wasted trying to respond to nonsense), the more devalued and less useful it becomes. It would be the same with any pseudoscience: a medical forum overrun with debate on whether vaccination was harmful or whether HIV really did cause AIDS, a geology forum where much attention was given to the idea that landforms were best explained by Noah's flood etc.

Perhaps this is his intention? I con't see why anyone else would create 3, 5 or sometimes 5 posts in a row on the same thread, post absolute nonsense about nuclear central heating or replacing metro trains with self guided cars running in tiny tunnels, or the total lack of interest in all things renewable & sustainable on a board that is mainly populated by people interested in renewable energy and sustainable living.

He's been ruining this board for a long time now. I appreciate that MSE don't want censorship and so won't ban him, but a simple change to the "Ignore" function would be perfect. Instead of replacing the post with the message "You can't see this post because you have this person on ignore", just don't display the post or thread (if created by that person). Alternatively have a longer time limit between posts on the same thread. It's almost as irritating scrolling through multiple lines of "You're ignoring this person" than it is scrolling the the nonsense posts themselves. Almost

They must have some rules regarding trolling though, surely.
The sheer number of people who have him on their ignore list should tell them something.

I agree, it'd be easy to just have a count and if someone gets over 10 people ignoring them, then it's time for MSE to have a little chat with that person.

I just posted a thread on the MSE Feedback board asking for the Ignore button to not keep reporting that you have someone on Ignore whenever they post. I think that'd go a long way to helping stop disruption on the threads.

With that in mind, I'm going to pop him back on ignore. :)

Considering how many people supposedly have GA on ignore an awful lot still engage with him.

He has some interesting ideas and I suspect other people are miffed because they didn’t think of them first.

That may be true, but if they are such good ideas why doesn't he express them on the main discussion board (The Money Savers Arms and Discussion Time) where he could reach a larger audience?

Especially as most of his 'interesting ideas' have nothing to do with Green and Ethical Moneysaving.
