No to IAS, yes to ignore anything further than a formal Letter of Claim and/or court papers from the Northampton CCBC. Come back on this thread if you get either.

Meantime, do plenty of research via the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #2 which prepares you for the almost inevitable court claim.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Thanks. I've been reading the Newbies and other threads and still find it all confusing. Would happily pay someone to make it all go away

How much are VCS asking for? How much are you willing to pay 'to make it all go away'?

Initially £60 but now that I've missed the 'deadline' it's £100. I'd probably pay £20, I think that's what the local council charge. But purely out of principle I just don't want to pay the scampers anything!

So, many hours of work for twenty quid? Not a hope. Third World country pay levels are higher!

We do this for free, by providing support and guidance, but you need to do the legwork to rid yourself of your problem.

The NEWBIES FAQ sticky provides lots of the guidance needed. Many do it without much, or any, input from regulars.

I think I'm just going to give in and pay the £60 and be done with it all. I really don't understand all the legal defence stuff and have no idea how I'll wade through all that when I get to it, even with the help of everyone on here. Also, the keeper of the vehicle is not very happy about it all.

    Stop.

We WIN every case, pretty much, and yes, these are ordinary people like you going to their local court, not someone legally trained.

    THE HARD TRUTH
If you fold and pay like some pathetic victim after coming here, you are sponsoring the firm and funding the next PCNs against vulnerable people.

Your are on MSE on a forum with a wealth of info - so don't join the nasty ex clamper firm and DO NOT support them with money 'for an easy life'.

We find that shameful and actually get a bit miffed, do you see why?

Yes I totally do. I just don't like having it lurking all the time waiting to be dealt with, especially as it's all addressed to the keeper, not me. All the legal jargon for the defence makes no sense to me, and I don't have hours & hours to deal with it all. I think all the help and advice on here is amazing but also a bit confusing and overwhelming.

Get the keeper to name you as the driver, giving your address, if they have a problem with ignoring scam letters and won't want to defend in court.

It is not complicated to defend a case, look what a poster said today, she loved it!
This was honestly one of the most delightful things I have ever witnessed, and Judge Whitford was simply incredible. I have a strong suspicion that he knows exactly what these parking companies are, and that he'd encountered this particular representative before, too.
I've been to court and beaten PPCs and Judges are generally lovely and we win! Such a good life experience.

Will I have to attend court or can it be all via documentation?
