When you say rough figures can you be more specific as the figures you have given are over 12% discount and that is more than even a Tui shop would make on their own holiday. Thomas Cook would have made a loss on that amount, i know they discounted Tui holidays but not if making a loss. Have Tui offered you a full refund if your not happy with the price they're asking? Perhaps you could ask them what they would knock off the full price as a gesture if they won't honour the full amount.0

We booked TC flights through Ocean Florida, within 2 weeks they'd sorted everything.
We now fly same day with VA.

Steph - I might have exaggerated the discount as didn't have the two invoices to hand, but the total cost of the holiday before discount was £4052 and Thomas Cook gave it to me for £3620.
I was suprised I wasn't given the option of cancelling and getting money back, rather than just being told tough - I mean, a lot of the loyal Thomas Cook customers are looking for a new place to book their holidays, even if they offered some discount, but I wasn't even given that. It;s fair enough I guess, they can handle it any way they want - happy to contact Abta and see what their thoughts are.0 -

You would think TUI as the tour operator would have to give you your money back. Its all the same if you haven't got the extra money needed. Perhaps they're trying it on see if you'll pay it.0 -

However it seems unreasonable that TUI are being expected to honour an offer made by TC.
A full refund of monies paid would appear to be the fairest outcome.0 -
So I did respond to the initial e-mail trying to dig a bit further on why they couldn't honour the discount even though i'd heard of other discounts being honoured and also ABTA advising of the discount. What is this "code" they talk of?

I mean, I get that, any time a discount is given in any retailer the likelihood is you use a code to cross reference when pulling data - good customer code, voucher code, summer offer code or something along those lines.

I think, it this case, it is just a very poor explanation from a TUI employee. Their system discounts are driven by a discount code. No correct discount code = no discount - “computer says no”.
The TUI response should just have been that they could not (or would not) honour the Thomas Cook discount, rather than answer in internal gobbledygook.0
