Buying a house and girlfriend moving in
Comments

Hi,I told the mortgage company that she would be moving in with me. She has signed the mortgage deed as an occupier so she has no legal right over the property.
why did she have to sign, if it all goes wrong in a month or two, and she moves out, you can have any chic you want move in?0 -
I will be adding all the bills up (incl. mortgage) and splitting 50 - 50. Or should I leave the mortgage out and get her to pay just half the utility bills?
The house doesnt need redecorating at present, I will cross that line when it comes to it.
Wrong, wrong, Do not do this.
The only thing your girlfriend should be responsible for is 50% of: Food, Water, Electricity, Gas - that is nothing else.
Make this explicitly clear before she moves in. You need new carpets, you could ask her opinion, but the final decision rests with you and that includes the payment also.
Please also do a search on this forum before going ahead with this decision. Take note from all those who are not in a position where the ex wants 50% of the property. Ask yourself if you want to be in this position, I would guess not.0 -
She had to sign that she would have to move out if the property was repossessed.0

That's fine, how would she prove that the amount she pays would be towards the mortgage though? It would basically be my word against hers?0 -
So what? Doesn't give her any interest. If she moves out, he can have a whole harem move in.[Deleted User] wrote:

its another area that any solicitor would charge you both handsomely
to either contest or defend in the event of a split.
that's why people often annotate their bank statements to confirm the source of funds or where you are paying money to.in S 38 T 2 F 50

She will be paying money into my account that I don't use, and the direct debit for the mortgage will be from my personal account. I don't know if this makes any difference?0 -
She just needs to pay you half of the utility bills.
Until you get each of those bills in you wont know how much she actually owes you.
I would be wary of her paying a set amount into an account that you don't normally use.
Maybe you could consider a joint bills account that funds just the utilities and you each pay in the same amount...returning any excess to eachother if there becomes too big a credit balance over a period of time.
however looking forward if you should choose to marry her at some point then its game change.in S 38 T 2 F 50
