Argos have not yet accused you of fraud have they so why don't we wait and see what happens.

The problem here is WHY your mother chose to phone them. After all, you were dealing with the application. Did you not tell her that you had already called?

Just out of curiosity why exactly did they want you to call in the first place. It is not normal when making an application for a card to receive a letter asking you to call the issuer of the card so what did they want you to call about? I hope that both you and your mother provided consistent information.

Nobody will be involving the police so forget about that. No need to worry there. However, Argos may have concerns now about who exactly will be using the card and may well decline the application as they can't really be sure who they are dealing with. You will just have to wait and se what happens. Good luck.
  • Hi there I forgot to tell her I called I know silly me she said call for me because I’m busy so have me the letter and I called them

She got a letter stating thank you for interest in tour Argos card please call us for more information regarding tour application so we can send your Argos card

The reason for the call was something about a fraud mark on her file but that was from her bank along time ago somebody from a different country tried to use her card but she had that sorted out

Argos was fine about it and was also fine about when she called and said yes my daughter call as me they just said no problem we will mark that down on the computer and tour application will continue

    That’s it
  • She took a phone contract out 2 months ago with no problems xxxx

I applied for it for my mother but she was going to let me use it my credit isn’t the best she allowed me to do so she allowed me to call so I called and then she didn’t remember me calling and called them herself the next day total mistake I don’t see how that is fraud when she has given me the ok and allowed me to apply in her name which she asked me to do so

Because you are pretending to be your mother....

While your mother said it was OK for you to do this. Argos are not aware. Hence as far as Argos are aware. YOU ARE YOUR MOTHER. Had she spoken to Argos on the back of the letter, and asked them will you talk to my daughter about this, then it's a different ball game. But they could just say no to that request.

Dangerous game you are playing that could wreck both of your chances of credit going forward.
    Life in the slow lane

I already told you. No and No.
  • Right, so you led us to believe you were applying for a card using her name and her address:-
my mother let me apply for an Argos card in her name and her address
But now you're backpedalling and saying your mother asked you to apply for an Argos card for her (to save her the trouble) and that she'd also let you use it.

You also insist that your mother didn't know you'd rung them because you forgot to tell her, but earlier you wrote:-
she passed me the letter and told me to call on her behalf
So you were both in her house at the time and, because of the reason for the call (a fraud mark on her file, wasn't it?) there is no way that you'd have been able to handle the call on your own, so you would have had to get her help. That means, you couldn't have forgotten to tell her about the call as you claim.
I forgot to tell her I called I know silly me she said call for me because I’m busy so have me the letter and I called them
Could your mum realistically have forgotten about this all happening overnight - I don't think so, but, then, I don't know your mother. And please don't tell us that you took the letter away to your house before making the call because that would have meant your mother no longer had the letter in her possession to remind her to call and neither would she have know what number to call them on.

Nice try, but I can see the judge putting that black handkerchief on his head already.
  • Are you actually serious lol she asked me to apply for one that I could use she knew all about it I took the letter home she had the number written down please don’t accuse me when it’s hard to explain it on writing

I'm as serious as you are lol. Not sure why it should be so hard to explain it in writing - but I can see it is hard to keep everything consistent.
