Argos card please help

Argos card help ASAP please
So a little bit about the situation my mother let me apply for an Argos card in her name and her address so I went ahead and did it she received a letter through the post to contact Argos for further information so she passed me the letter and told me to call on her behalf so I did and I said I was her on the phone and the application was fine then today she rang them not thinking and they asked if she rang yesterday she said no 🤦!♀️ They then said well somebody rang as you yesterday she said oh sorry i forgot I asked my daughter to call as me as I was busy lol so they said no problem we will mark it down on the file They haven’t declined the card as she has contacted them and stated what has happened

So my question now is will the card be accepted due to what’s happened or am I now Likley to be done for fraud and pretending to be her when she confirmed I did that to them on the phone please help panicking now

  • It doesn't sound like it but it's impossible to say. Your mum will be the primary suspect though, rather than you.

Nothing you can do about it now but don't make any more fraudulent applications. Lenders don't like them and you can ruin your financial future.

Your mum should check her CIFAS files depending on the outcome.
  • So I’m unlikely to be done for fraud because she has agreed to me applying and she said she allowed me to call them pretending to be her I feel sick like I’m going to be arrested for fraud even though she agreed

What you should have done is got your'e mum to call them and then tell them she gives you permission to act on her behalf when dealing with them, don't pretend to be her, i do it with my other half all the time.
  • As you realise you have made a fraudulent application, you and your mother will just have to accept the consequences.

It could seriously ruin your credit histories.

if Argos consider this as fraud they have a duty of care to cancel the card.
If they do not cancel the card then all is ok. The Police advice to Argos would be cancel this card.

For you to get to court it would need ok from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Who would be initiated by statements from Police about the crime committed and the loss to Argos in monetary terms.

The Police advice to Argos would be to cancel this card.

At worst this is a mis communication I guess.

How much is your mum in debt to Argos ?
  • Just before we all get too carried away here, why did your mother ring the Argos credit card team the day after you spoke with them, and why can't you apply for an Argos card in your own name?
  • "and why can't you apply for an Argos card in your own name?"

I could be wrong, but I suspect that mother wanted card, not daughter, and asked daughter to make application for her? That's my interpretation.
I know it is wrong for daughter to have done that. All would probably have been fine until mother chucked a big spanner into the works!

Or. In spite of card being in Mum's name, daughter would have used the card? Does daughter not have a good enough credit record which would prevent her obtaining a card in her own name?
Apologies to O.P. if the last paragraph is way off the mark.
  • Another possibility - it was all a dream and never happened?
  • I applied for it for my mother but she was going to let me use it my credit isn’t the best she allowed me to do so she allowed me to call so I called and then she didn’t remember me calling and called them herself the next day total mistake I don’t see how that is fraud when she has given me the ok and allowed me to apply in her name which she asked me to do so
  • She isn’t in debt with Argos this was a new Argos card application which she asked me to do for her in her name so I could use the card

Again she asked me to do the application and agreed also that it was applied for using her name and details so how is that a prison sentence for fraud when she knew about it
