My daughter had a current account with Natwest at 11, she had a debit card too. It's called an Adapt Account.

Yes but OP's account was opened 14 years ago. They are 26 now and a graduate, but still have this same account.0 -
I suggest having a google on sharia compliant savings accounts (I'm sorry if I have assumed the wrong religious reason) however these do not pay interest on savings so which ever religious reason it is for not wanting interest these maybe suitable. Which money seemed to have a comprehensive overview on these types of savings accounts.
This will be a lot safer than having 30k sat in a current account (still not perfect but nowhere is to be fair)! just think of how easy it is to get bank/card details from skimming a card at an ATM to what you input when buying online. Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada  :dance:0 -
Do you need to keep £30,000 in your current account?
Had you considered a sharia compliant savings account?

Again - there are children's accounts that will migrate to a full account on the child's 16th birthday (or there abouts). So a children's account was opened 14 years ago, with all the normal restrictions/benefits of a childrens account. Then at some point it became a normal current account, with the all the restrictions/benefits of a normal current account.
This migration may happen automatically, or may require the customer to ask for it. The customer may or may not be provided with a new account number. You can argue whether or not it's actually the same account (especially if a new SCAN is given), but from the customers perspective it's the same account as they didn't move the money themselves.0
