it might be if i can get a refund for the faulty tv we have but if they offer a replacement it then it would be argos
What did you buy.
if stuck with Argos might be worth putting what they offer as a replacement to see if it is any good and perhaps counter offer.
As said RS and JL are the starting points for TV with the Warranty, there are others and manufacturers that offer long warranty which does give other options.
Is £299 a hard budget limit or could you go a bit higher(£50?£100?)
How far away are you viewing this TV
Do you need wide viewing angles(some TV will have an issue with this including the top brands).
If you can up the budget a bit you might stretch to a better picture quality.
Just noticed the better Hisense(with Wide Colour Gamut) is on budget(did not see that yesterday)

or for £50 more the 50"

another £50 will get the 55"
Lots of other options0 -
I'm only back in the UK now and again so this might be a silly question but if I buy the Roku does that mean I get all the Netflix etc stuff free or do I still have to pay for it?
Netflix is a subscription service also available worldwide. You can use your UK Netflix account abroad, but the content will be still the UK one. Alternatively you can get Netflix account from the other country you reside (Netflix content varies slightly between countries).0 -

For example I have a 6ish years old 32" Sony 7 series in the kids room. It's so gimped that it takes about 30sec from turning it on until you can switch channels or most importantly change the volume. Not the best experience if you turn it on in the morning and it's booming for 30sec because the kids messed it up last night.0 -
If buying a new TV I would only buy an UHD / 4K TV
1080 is so out of date
WAtch out for cheap LG TVs, some of them are fake UHD using RGBW
There is no such thing as "fake UHD". UHD is a resolution standard - 4K. You cannot fake it and LG do not sell any mislabeled 4K sets. Nor does anyone else.
As for the original query - take a look here.

The Curry's only model is similar to the one you have linked.
I'd say your choice is between that and the Hisense A6200 - which is £299 for a 50" 4K screen.
If it was me in this budget I'd go bigger. So the Hisense. Given you're talking low budget low quality screens regardless - bigger will give you a good feeling of an upgrade.
If you want to get a better TV - with good HDR then save up - and actually I find spending more on a TV that will last a long time is not a bad way to do it.0 -

I know I can do that, I just thought if there were still some still being sold they might be a lot cheaper.
Looks like I've missed the boat0
