Housing association letting me down!

Imagine their horror and outrage of being shock, hurt and aghast when their boradband goes down and BT quote 5 days for an engineer to turn up without the promise of a fix...

I think the thread header is misleading. Perhaps it could be changed to "Snowflake moves onto HA property & can't cope with real world".
Emergency repairs for me even if it's because i have no hot water are 3 working days.0 -
I would just add a note of caution here to respondents, who should consider how likely it is that someone, apparently young and with a university education, would be housed by an HA, without there also being some 'enabling circumstances.'
I think I know where you are going anyway but, such as?0 -
OP, you might want to check your tenancy agreement before you keep on making a fuss. If you’re on an introductory tenancy for the first year (which is very common) then the housing association can evict you much more easily. The smoke alarm is obviously important but that doesn’t mean it will be fixed instantly, just within a reasonable time. Things like leaves and what clothing your neighbours wear are really not issues at all. Endless unnecessary complaints from you, especially if you keep escalating them, could make this housing association keen to end your tenancy before they get stuck with you permanently.
I’m in a council house with 5 big cherry trees shedding their leaves all over my drive and garden. It has never occurred to me to complain! I just lift the leaves myself.0 -
I think this might be more to do with having unrealistic expectations.0

My Elderly parents had no central heating for 5 weeks, they owned their home, guess who they complained to ? no one, got an engineer and waited for those 5 weeks to come fix it.
Social housing doesn't mean you get things done quicker nor your any more special than others. Reality is cruel..."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

To be fair it was during winter when it was busy and most engineers that part of town were busy too, plus they needed a new boiler as their 20 year old boiler has given up the ghost.
Must say that was good service to have it done within 2 working days, but highlights another entitled family expecting it to be done same day no doubt"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I've found it very heartening to have witnessed this person go from averting eyes and not appearing to see me as a teenager, to someone who now initiates conversations. I don't think the vast improvement in his coping strategies has come about through people being rude, or telling him his many concerns about rule breaking (e.g. people not sorting their recycling correctly) are just a crazy fixation he should have grown out of.0 -
Davesnave, I agree. OP (presuming post is genuine) reminds me of several former clients. It can be very challenging for someone with high-functioning autism to live independently for the first time even with support.
OP, forgive me if I'm making assumptions.0
