Housing association letting me down!

  • What was not constructive about suggesting that you change the battery yourself while waiting for the HA to get round to it?

The term snowflake is overused, but your responses suggest that you are going to struggle with a great many aspects of the grown-ups world if you can’t learn to take some initiative.

May I ask, do you only look one way when crossing a one-way street, as you should not have to look both?

If you instruct contractors yourself expect to receive the bill yourself.
It might prove to be an expensive battery.

I would just add a note of caution here to respondents, who should consider how likely it is that someone, apparently young and with a university education, would be housed by an HA, without there also being some 'enabling circumstances.'
  • The issue is with the sense of the I am entitled to this to be fixed right now, as oppose to report the problem and fixed in a timely manner. Then the over the top reactions to when it doesn't happen how the OP wanted it to.

University educated, probably means living in university accommodation or similar so the OP will have got some experience of what slow to be fixed problems are like. If they have lived at home, I would hope there parents, guardians, relatives or friends would be able to speak to them directly about what is reasonable and what isn't.

I think the OP likely just needs to get use to how the systems work and in a few months will probably be use to what is and what isn't urgent, what they can and cannot sort themselves.

A very good point, well made.

We have a neighbour who's a fireman, coming up to retirement.

He finds the job boring these days, since it's all prevention and no actual incidents.

But surely that means the prevention is working. :D

the way the grounds have been left in such a state, i.e leaves all over the place, moss,[/QUOTE]

Just the same with our house - not social housing. The unkind Council has a row of mature Field Maples on the other side of our garden fence and they inconsiderately drop masses of leaves every year which we have to clear away. Surprisingly, moss grows in the grass during autumn rains along with fungi of all things, puffballs and suchlike. It's a hard life, isn't it? Oh, and we also get a massive crop of maple seedlings in the grass every year too from these vicious trees. With the current emphasis on growing more trees, I think that instead of mowing the seedlings down I'll pot them on and sell them.

Putting it politely you are far too precious to be in social housing - it's clearly far too social for you, in that there are other human beings in your immediate vicinity.

Ideally you should be in a palace with paid staff. If you were my tenant I would be counting the days until I could serve you a section 21 and get you out, just so I would stop hearing your constant complaints about stupid things.

If you don't like messy leaves how about you get off your backside and sweep them up yourself and make it more pleasant for you and your neighbours? How about instead of whining about modesty, you greet your neighbours and ask their names? This is your home, you get what you put in, if you want to live in a community you need to be a part of it, not look down from atop your throne.
