Sorry. Do need to deposit, so that they have a card verified to pay you. Paid in £10, immediately withdrew that and £46 winnings. Hope that makes sense, mumtoomany.

I would like to pay off my credit card bills and combine saving money with being more environmentally conscious where possible.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.I reserve the right not to spend.

Spendy weekends here as I had to pop into the village store and ended up spending £8.59. Then I had to fill up the car with petrol, so that was best part of £40, so the day cost me not far off £50! On the plus side, a friend brought several yellow sticker fruit & veg items they got in supermarket, all priced at mere pennies. There was enough veg to make a huge pan of veg soup that will last all week for the 2 of us, plus enough for a dinner. They swapped it all for half a dozen of our hen eggs.
With the hens laying again, pancakes are back on the menu, as are quiche, flans and French toast.

My 2020 plans have gone flying out the window and come to a complete halt.
My dad suddenly passed away at the end of January and I've had to leave the UK for the foreseeable future while I sort things out with/for my mum.
I'm on extended leave at work but after February's payday, I'll be running basic household bills from my savings and then from the credit card if required.
Not what I'd planned for myself at all
Best wishes to you both.df-MRes student

Hi Frugaldom,
I've bookmarked this forum to sign in as and when I'm able to. I need to try to embrace frugaldom in my current situation whilst I work at improving my financial situation. It's quite daunting thinking that not having an income from paid employment will be my reality from here on in. I'm a mature Research Master's student but am currently unwaged due to me having two long-term chronic conditions which have been proving challenging to treat and to manage. Living on benefits is no fun at all. It's incredibly stressful. This forum should bring an element of challenge and fun back into my life whilst I try to get myself fit enough to work again. Thanks for the info re page 1 links. Very useful! Delighted to be joining you all.
Best,df-MRes student

Welcome to the group, df-MRes student! Lots of tips here, and friendly motivation.
DD1 (11) wanted to cook pitabread for Saturday dinner, but in the end I had to prepare it as she was too busy playing with her friends (hide and seek, police-and-crook, zombies, etc. She is a playful child still and I am enjoying it very much). DD2 (8) wanted to make a serving plateful of raw veggies to nibble on for Sunday dinner, and she cut half the veggies while I cut the other half and fried some leftover potatoes. We made a chocolate sponge for dessert. It was fun. Leftover bits will be put in tomorrow's lunchboxes or have been put in the very large pot of red sauce I made this evening for tomorrow's dinner and the freezer.
We are cosy at home while the storm picks up speed outside. I love this!
