Breadmaker or handbaked, homemade is great. I got into making flatbreads when doing the ration challenge so maybe the kids could get into making those themselves (supervised)? Flour, water and a pinch of salt, flattened out by hand and cooked in frying pan in some oil.Quick and easy, cost pennies to make and can be tweaked by adding other seasonings.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

I've made flatbreads for years, so quick, easy and yummy. They get wolfed down straight away :rotfl:
I make mine using SR flour (you didn't say which sort of flour you use, Frugaldom), a little baking powder, a little salt and natural yoghurt rather than water. The dough is pretty sticky so needs extra flour when flattening out:eek:. A quick fry in the griddle pan and they're done:j. Never tried baking them but I suppose it's possible. I use this recipe as a base for HM pizzas though.
I feel hungry now:rotfl:. Would make some but I don't have any yoghurt left:(. It's a staple in our house but I miscalculated on my last online order and bought the smaller size than usual:o2 -
A couple of years ago, I kept track of what we used up during the month, and that would be the basis of my shopping list. So: if we used 2 jars of peanut butter per month, I would check how many we had left before I went on my fortnighly shopping; if there were less than 2 jars, I would put the missing jars on my list.
I have to re-do this exercise, because dds have grown and our diet has changed.
Are you my twin, Siebrie? I operate a similar policy for many items: one in the cupboard (storage) and one in use. When the one in use is finished, I'll transfer the one from storage and add the item to the shopping list. Of course, if it's something we use a lot, then I'll buy enough to cover the month, or to bring my supplies back to a month's worth.

It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it - that’s what gets results!

Finally solvent; would you be kind enough to post your flatbread recipe, amounts etc? A friend who has gone away has donated a large tub of organic natural yoghurt and I was wondering what to do with it - that's one thing!
Thanks in advance.1 -

MSE Twinsies, hurray!
Dinner tonight is mac n cheese with leeks.
The mac is the dregs from several bags of short cut pasta, the cheese is mature gouda we had too much of (we bought a block during christmas break, and the my parents gave us a block, too), leeks were the last two bendy leeks from the pack we had bought.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.591 -
Hi everyone,
In awe of people who can juggled money, discounts and the such, it takes all my time managing my bank account and purse!!!
Went shopping today with list and now have a menu plan for the next week, hope I stick to it now and the purse should stay closed. I have a dgd tomorrow and even she was factored into it, so no reason to go into any shops.
Not much else has happened, just a bit more sorting - Im doing it one drawer at a time and I haven't really got much so it never takes me long but I cant face doing it all in one go!
Hope everybody is keeping warm it seems to be a lot colder today, even though the sun has been shining.

Does anyone have much success with sharing refer-a-friend offers, to gain a few extra quid?Building my kids' savings from day one. Education and consistency are key to financial control.
Budgeting and using referral codes have been a game changer, I no longer pay for my dog's food.1 -
Hi Stud26, not really ! Always seems a great offer but sooo many conditions that I've had no success !
Hopefully last big spend today, my baby was 18 today, so paid for big take away - gulp - plus dosh for clothes etc. Have now said the bank of Mum is shut !
So my new regime starts tomorrow, sitting here with a glass of wine now ( last bottle.......).
New budgets to be finalised, am certainly on it now ! Honest, upfront and unashamed - that's my new approach plus organisation !
Hugs to all xxJourney on the Frugal Wagon to Self Reliance.
