Good evening Frugaleers.
today I harvested about 17lbs of gooseberries. I shared them with 4 friends and neighbours and have 9lbs in the freezer. I are a cauliflower and some cabbage from the garden for supper tonight.
lunch was an egg sandwich with gifted eggs and spring onions from the garden.
I also made 5 portions of broccoli soup and 8 portions of veg curry....all with veggies from the garden and in the freezer for the winter.
I might need another freezer.
Congratulations Willow that is a great achievement.Wombling £457.419 -
Hi guys and gals, we have sunshine here and are harvesting blackcurrants - sharing & swapping with friends and neighbours. Gooseberries are coming along nicely but a lot of the veggies need picked now, weeding needs done and seedlings need transplanting. Lockdown is easing slowly in Scotland so we finally have our first volunteer family visit this week.
Well done to all who have cleared debts, reassessed budgets, picked hmegrown fruit & veg, found exciting things (I would LOVE to find wooden posts!) and made savings in any way, shape or form, both money and time.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.
Frugal living challenge - living on little in 2025 while frugalling towards retirement.7 -
Sun is out here too, so washing being done and hung on the line.
Having to buy a few items of clothing and personal care but sticking to my list (even though I'd really love to buy a wireless speaker!)
I've been paid today, though it looks a little 'light' so I'll need to check that once I get my wage slip and see whether they've missed some of my hours off.
And my MOT is still showing as due this month....I'm hoping it will change to 6 months time. I'm not sure what to do if it doesn't??
In other news...it's a weekend of seeing my kids, starting with my son and his girlfriend arriving this evening6 -
I’m shattered, I just slept for 10 hours! It’s thrown my day completely. This thread is a lovely read every day, enjoy your harvests and family time!
Today the dogs get decent exercise, I’m hiring an enclosed area so they can run safely, because other dogs use it the boys get lots to sniff and play with.Does anyone know the best thing to plant lavender on into please?Life happens, live it well.4 -
Good evening all 😊
It's been a fabulously frugal couple of days here. I collected the free school uniform which really is fabulous, that must have saved me around £50 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I sold something on FB marketplace for £30, which I decided to use as our food budget for the week. I meal planned, wrote a list with approximate prices next to each item and toddled off to Aldi with DD. She was chief budgeter, and we managed to spend just £29.77 for the whole weeks shopping 😊😊😊.I returned two items to M&S (bought before I decided to throw myself back into frugal living mindset), which should net me an £11 refund. I hope that arrives Monday/Tuesday, as I don't get paid until Thursday and have just £8 in the bank! We don't need anything though so we will be fine. Finally, I returned two gas canisters to soda stream, which will net me a £20 refund on canisters bought previously so again I hope that will hit the account soon. Now I am focussed on paying off and closing the credit card, and living honestly and mindfully on a consistent basis with my money going forwards, I am so excited. The payday that I don't have to do a debt shuffle and pay out to someone/a company will be a great day. A reminder that 'When we borrow money, we are simply stealing from our future selves'.Have a lovely, frugal weekend all xx6 -

Right Id better go to the lottie tomorrow and see if the gooseberries are ready as I haven't been down in all this rain, mind you it had stopped by dinnertime today and has been dry since, Im just glad its stopped! There will be loads of raspberries as well as I went down on Saturday and picked loads, so jam made and rest were frozen but I can see another jam making session tomorrow. Im hoping theres some courgettes as well, mine were late going in but the ones in the garden are growing fast and they were the runty ones! I blame it on the rain!!!!
Eaten planned meals and all the leftovers, besides raspberry crumble of course. Havent been to the shops but have spent online - I must nip that in the bud as its too easy.
Anyway off to make a drink and do a bit of knitting.
