  • I've been stressed enough just dealing with myself and him so can only imagine how much harder that would be with kids involved.

Are you going to apply for it on Christmas eve?

I got my absolute in the post on Good Friday this year, I did a DIY divorce in Scotland because we had no real financial ties or kids so it was an easier process for me.

Still very hard emotionally but at least I could get all the legal bits done quick.

Unfortunately it looks like it will be after Xmas as we are still waiting for pension valuations and to finally agree on the money split.

Its very hard seeing everything you worked drifting away and having to see that person nearly everyday and remain calm and pleasant is particulalry difficult but on we go.

Like you have both said when there is children there is no such thing as a clean break really :-)

@Dolly, yep, I actually detest him however I don't want DS to see that so I'm putting my principles aside for the wellbeing of DS. I don't have to see him often and I've refused point blank to do "family" outings with him. He's stated he is jealous that me, SO and DS are going out to buy a christmas tree at the weekend and how he's now left in the cold...shouldn't have done what you did then bucko!

I'll definitely keep posted on the absolute...keep checking my emails!

@Accountant, ugh consent orders....luckily we have nothing between us!

They are deluded aren't they, when I met with mine to sign the divorce papers in January he was chatting away as if nothing had happened and he hadn't completely shattered my heart

Could have decked him, but instead I just got the papers signed then left.

Try not to punish someone for the actions of someone else. :)

I know you are right & I am being unfair. But after 2 disastrous marriages I have to wonder how much I did to drive them to it.
  • No one is perfect and we all have some blame in it.

As long as you both are happy with how things are right now then that is all that matters.

My mum had a partner for years and they didn't want to live with each other and it was mostly her decision but it did work for them.

I know I made it sound a lot easier than it is. :o
But please try not to blame yourself for other people's action.
I doubt that anything you did 'drove them to it'.

  • Has anyone used these to keep costs down?

We have agreed all terms but there is property to divide so will need a clean break order

Think Divorce Online does the CBO for £199 + court fees. Only heard good things from them

You dont need them to do the whole divorce though you can do the first part yourself
