Amazon warranty BEWARE.

Earlier this year I bought an HD8 brand new from a UK seller, registered it on my Amazon.co.uk account.
A week ago it went wrong so tried to get it replaced under warranty.
Amazon.co.uk say I must sort it with Amazon.com as they only deal with .co.uk sales and this HD8 was from .com
But .com will only send to USA! I have spent hours on chat and phone trying to sort this!
Eventually .co.uk said they would credit my Amazon account so I could purchase a replacement.
BUT all the HD8s for sale on Amazon.co.uk are fulfilled by Amazon EU sarl so what do I do? Amazon.co.uk have several times said they only honour warranties on items sold by them! But they do not have any for sale!
Sorry for long vent but after four, yes four hours arguing with Amazon I am fed up!

Without having to search for it, what is a HD8?0

It's basically an updated Amazon Kindle tablet with a new name.0

So Amazon.com is one company but Amazon.co.uk and Amazon EU sarl are combined in another separate company!
No wonder us poor consumers are confused. Nowhere in the terms and conditions does it explain all this.0 -
Not really confusing, I think you knew you were purchasing an item from the US in the first place, no doubt to try and get a better deal so there can't be any surprise that amazon.co.uk won't deal with it directly, no different if you were to purchase something from Amazon.de or Amazon.fr, but I suspect you know that.
Amazon.co.uk is simply the company behind the UK website, it's been part of Amazon EU Sarl for years.0 -
The answer is you bought the item from the US and your warranty etc is based in the US. as such, amazon.co.uk are not interested as you did not buy the product from them.
This happens when you want things cheaper!0 -
NO I did not buy from the US. I bought it brand new from a company in the UK and it was posted to me in the UK from the UK!
I registered it with Amazon.co.uk when it arrived.
Amazon say it was the sellers fault as they did not declare they are a UK company.0 -

You really need to be reading more carefully when ordering, especially at checkout.
You'll likely find your invoice is from Amazon Global Store if you ordered while on Amazon.co.uk.knightstyle wrote: »So Amazon.com is one company but Amazon.co.uk and Amazon EU sarl are combined in another separate company!

So you didn't buy direct from Amazon (.co.uk or .com)?
(If that is the case then your issue is with the supplier not supplying Amazon.co.uk goods)0 -
If they have credited your account what's the problem?
