And well said Duncan0 -
I’m sorry to have to say this but I think it’s sad that people rely on free supermarkets plastic bags to line their bins. The free bags were so flimsy they didn’t do a good job. There are many different brands out there, they are cheap per item and fit for purpose.
I’m sure a lot of you will have found the following. People had a huge trolley full of shopping and often put just a few bits of shopping in each bag thus using dozens and dozens.
A lot worse than this was the people taking big handfuls and not using them.
Thank god they started charging for them.
We have lots of jute bags we’ve accumulated from food fairs over the years. They are very strong and easy to carry. Much nicer than skinny little plastic bags that don’t last 5 minutes.0 -

I agree yes but I dont think it will, people will still forget to bring a bag from the car or they have made an unplanned viskt to the supermarket and no bags in the car.0 -

"When this bag is worn out please return it and we will give you a new one for free. We will then recycle your old bag. This bag is made from 100% recycled plastic." Added the wording for you written on the bag itself.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -

But we have established that Tesco, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and ASDA DO.
Just accept that this statement you made was wrong...
We've also established that not only do folk want all the yellow stickers they want lots of lovely freee bags to put them in. To hell with the environment.0 -

Glad you agree that your earlier statement was inaccurate.
Personally, I've not seen a lot of support for the OP's rant. Quite the opposite, in fact.
So I've not seen much evidence of 'to hell with the environment' attitude on this thread
I always have a couple of 'bags for life' bags in my bag in case I do a bit of food shopping plus a couple of fold up fabric shoppers in case I buy clothes - I don't want clothes in bags that have possibly had raw meat or veg in.
Nobody has mentioned yellow stickers on this thread - why have you brought that subject up?
Nobody has mentioned wanting free bags. The complaint was about the increase in the price of bags.0 -
I work as a cashier now, and there is a core group of people who don't bring any bags, every time they shop. Some use them for their rubbish, which I understand. There are people too, who moan that have lots of bags in their car and still buy more as they haven't brought them in. I use mine for my recycling rubbish, and the bag, when tatty goes to be recycled too as our council takes them, but I certainly don't need three plus bags a week for that, so try to remember my own bags.
I've just looked at the Government website re: the bag charge, and it looks like they are seeking to extend it to all retailers, large and small, and increase the charge.Deleted_User wrote: »Morrisons don't.There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson.
