If you were told the dog wasn’t allowed, what would you do?

If you would move ASAP to somewhere you could keep the dog, then go for it.

If you would ditch (sorry, ‘rehome’) the dog to keep your flat, then definitely don’t do it.

Read it as “you can have a dog until someone complains and then will have to get rid of it “.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

The wording is: No bird animal or reptile which may cause annoyance to any other owner tenant or occupier of any other part of the building shall be kept in the flat.

A dog may cause annoyance, therefore not allowed.

It's conceivable that any "bird, animal or reptile" may cause annoyance, if you going to view it subjectively. But if they wanted to prohibit all pets they'd just have said "no bird animal or reptile shall be kept in the flat", wouldn't they?

I think the only sensible interpretation is that you've not to keep it if it is actually causing annoyance (by some objective standard).

In practice, nobody's likely to go to the bother and expense of trying to enforce the condition unless the dog is actually being a pain. And if you've got a neighbour dispute about your dog, that's a problem irrespective of what the lease says about pets.

I've said my bit, but will add one last line of 'please don't'. Poor dog if you have to give it up now or later. Upsets me beyond words.

Better leave it there before I babble on too much. Move if you want a dog.

    Nice try artful! But

Provided that nothing in this subsection shall authorise any hens or rabbits to be kept in such a place or in such a manner as to be prejudicial to health or a nuisance or affect the operation of any enactment.
    Does 'nuisance' = 'annoyance'?

Un-nuetered cats can scent mark their territory which attracts other cats - A queen in heat will attract the attentions of randy toms, and if the smell of cat urine isn't an annoyance, the cat calls may well be.

That said, if the neighbours are allowed children (which can be a far greater annoyance), the OP should be allowed a cat at least.
