Got to have a laugh. I opened a Barclay premier account the other day I put 125k in. You got some good perks free gifts 50 percent off food at pubs etc! You also get a black card for you current account!
Anyways Barclays have sent me a blue card and said I’ve failed there credit score for a black card! Still give me all the perks but not a nice shiny card can anyone see why?

I don't think those were their exact words.
Debit card type is normally determined by account type.
Not quite sure of why you would want to deposit so large a sum in this account. In your place I would have deposited it somewhere where it would earn some interest.0 -
No seriously. I have all the perks and everything but not the black coloured card and a limited of 300 a day withdrawal. And I’ve put it in there due to the rewards you get. Also doing research for future investing0

Oh no.
You don’t have a black card with “Premier” written on it to flash in Starbucks each morning!!
It really matters not...0 -
Still waiting on the online stuff to come. If they have downgraded the account I’ll just take the money elsewhere. If you match the criteria you match the criteria0

Are you doing it purely for the look of the card?0

So, for example, I have been issued with a black "Premier Banking"-branded debit card and, whilst I receive incentives from the Premier Reward programme, according to my statements I still only have a basic "BBA" Barclays Bank Account.0 -
Perhaps just "putting in" a large amount doesn't equate to "saving a large amount", as per the account requirements, to Barclays.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

It often comes across as faintly ridiculous, but due to the large daily ATM limit on the card (£1000 as standard) there is a separate CRA check for the debit card which happens only after approval for the Premier account itself.
OP, rest assured that you haven't been downgraded and you will still have all the benefits of the account plus the Premier Rewards app - just sans the black debit card, for now. You can still have a personalised, contactless debit card which you can set the ATM limit up to £500 if you so wish. The declined card? That may just be due to multiple credit applications over a short time, in which case you can ask them in a few months time to try again. Or if it's completely out of the blue, perhaps get a copy of your credit report to see if there's anything negative there.: )0 -
Hi. I think it was due to having a 4K Barclaycard with them witched I’ve just cleared yesterday. My credit score is 945.(excellent) so I’m just putting it down to the outstanding CC.0

Are we to believe that the OP simply walked into a Barclays branch and said words to the effect of 'I want to open a Premier account. Here is £125,000 to deposit in the account.'0
