[Kwik-Fit] Changed 4 tyres but 1 is wrong model

All the more reason why I suggested the OP should not drive it around more than was necessary...parking_question_chap wrote: »Kwik Fit will probably just chuck it on another customers car, I doubt many customers go around and inspect all 4 tyres before driving away.
Did you take the tyre back by bus (as suggested in post#4)?They didn't mention about avoiding to drive the car, but I used the bus just in case.
Glads you got it sorted without hassle..0 -
Actually it might do, if it has obviously been there a long time and has caused damage to the tyre resulting in an accident. You are supposed to keep your car in good order, and checking for visible stones in the tread and tyre damage would be part of that.

Brilliant - must be in the Admiral policy very small print of their policy documents. :beer:1 -
Thank you everybody for your advice (especially the one suggesting to burn my car ahahah)
I rang them the day after and they told me to pop in on Saturday. They didn't mention about avoiding to drive the car, but I used the bus just in case.
The manager was really polite, my tyre was changed with the right one and they even apologised.
So I would like to give them a :T
The local Kwik Fit centre is the one in Stockport (A6).
Jeez, they even apologised after screwing up the most basic task that a fast fit garage should be able to do in their sleep. And making you get the bus.
To be fair that does sound like they've improved considerably since I last used them. I shall certainly head to Stockport the next time I want three new tyres on my four wheel car.1 -
My mother in law, visited the Kwikfit at Goole on 25 September 2019. She is in her 70s. She was charged £333.71 for 4 tyres on a Citreon C3 that gets little use. There was a £63.96 charge for a 'Tyre fitting' Package and a charge of £49.95 for adjustment. She also found that loose change was missing from inside the car after her visit. I complained to Kwikfit as soon as I found out but left it till recently due to a family illness.
I recently received a response from the ‘Master Manager Kwik-Fit Northern Division’ who explained the invoice and gave the following sage advice:
“Poor alignment has an effect on tyre wear and fuel economy to an extent dependent on the deviation from tolerances.”
The ‘Master Manger’ then went on to say that they had all of the invoices and the person that worked on the car was no longer employed there so the missing coins not be investigated. He stated:
“I am not aware of any incidents of a similar nature in this centre during all the time that I have been the overseeing manager and would reassure you of my confidence in the current team that work in this location.”
I made it clear that neither myself or a number of family and friends will be using their services again as we believe that my mother in law was taken advantage of due to her age and gender.

How did they change your tyre if you went there by bus?Gianspan said:

It is perfectly possible that alignment was required and it will indeed cause uneven tyre wear; however, I wouldn't have Kwik Fit do it, based on my previous experience, where they took hours to do it on my 2 year-old car and didn't get it right.I've not heard of companies charging for fitting, as that would normally be included in the quoted price, but it could be that the inclusive charge is broken out to a separate line item in the receipt. But £450 for a new set of boots on a C3 does seem rather a lot - I hope they were Michelins or another premium brand...You can visually check tyres to see if your alignment may be out; if the front tyres will have one edge much more worn than the other, then that typically suggests having it looked at. (Unless you spend all day driving fast around roundabouts...) One thing which can cause alignment to be out is bumping into a kerb.0 -

Especially square on with the bump centralised. Better to have one wheel on and one wheel through the gap on left or right else both wheels get splayed outwards. I think local council pension funds heavily invest in Kwik Fit.sheramber said:and going over speed bumps

Most garages can never get alignment right. Took my car for a £25 alignment once, guy test drove it after he done it he said it was spot on in his words. Even before I was out of the industrial estate I could tell it still wasn't 100%.

I agree, I have seen tyres shredded on the inside by drivers that straddle those humps rather than one wheel on and one wheel off, yet nearly everyone I follow ,straddles themMutton_Geoff said:
