[Kwik-Fit] Changed 4 tyres but 1 is wrong model
I know what you are thinking, I was a fool trusting Kwik-Fit...
I bought 4 tyres from Kwik-Fit and today I have been to my local centre to have them fitted.
Unfortunately I have just realised one of the tyres is (slightly) different. It's the same brand (hankook) but while the other 3 tyres are reinforced the 4th is normal.
I can't ring my local centre because is closed, so I rang the customer service and I have been told they can't help me because I have to get in contact with the local centre to sort this matter out (really helpful).
So tomorrow I'll try to give the a ring and make them aware of the situation, but I'll be able to pop in only on Saturday.
Have you got any advice?
Is it reasonable asking to have fitted the right tyre or can they charge me extra because I have used the car, even if only for few miles?
Thank you

No chance of public transport for those miles and then asking them for reimbursement of extra costs involved? I'm talking taxi, by the way....0 -

It's already second hand, so are you suggesting they take they tyre back on the bus?1 -
A Honda dealer fitted 2 wrong tyres on my car on a Friday. Phoned them next day. They replied bring the car in the next Friday when it suited me. I had thought they would be keen to get the tyres back, evidently not.Mortgage free

The OP knows the wrong tyre has been fitted and so should not drive with it for any longer/further than absolutely necessary. Any extra costs incurred should be reimbursed by Quickfit.sheslookinhot wrote: »They replied bring the car in the next Friday when it suited me. Their mistake, their problem. Straight there in the morning.
They may not have the correct one in stock, and I wouldn't lose too much sleep driving around for a day or two. I presume you need the XL to meet the car's minimum load requirement? Make sure that one's on the lighter end.
What's the load rating of the two, and what's the minimum for your car?0 -

Who says they shouldn't drive it? Surely they should minimise and additional cost for them to have any claim and if that means using the car then so be it.
Not sure Quickfit are responsible for any costs.0 -
Just do yourself a favour. Slash all 4 tyres with a stanley knife, set fire to your car, then drop £450 off to them on Monday morning. It will save you a lot of time for the same outcome as attempting to get them to fix it.1

They won't sell the tyre on to someone else as brand new (wouldn't have thought but who knows with Kwik Fit). Therefore I wouldn't worry about driving the car until it's replaced.0

I would be wary of the possible insurance implications of driving a vehicle with a tyre load rating less than the manufacturers original specification.0
