Asking vendor if we can store stuff at house before exchange

I was in a similar position as vendor a couple of years ago. I was notified a couple of days before exchange that the buyers wouldn't be able to complete on the day we had agreed but I had already booked removals (necessary as it was a Forces move) so I had to put my stuff into storage for a week.

Then, on the very day that I'd moved out, I got a phone call from the EA saying that the buyers had noticed I had moved out and could they store their stuff early.

My answer cannot be shared on this forum.

Ask if the removal company can provide/organise temporary storage.
  • Really honestly?

    I have to disagree.

Nothing beats the 'Bag for Life' dead dog and the pond.

After 15 house moves (most company moves) I can honestly say that we've never exchanged and completed in one or two days. The usual time has been one to two weeks which has then given us time to arrange the move without involving storage.

On our sale, a few weeks ago, exchanged Thursday afternoon, completed Friday morning.

    Not recommended though!

Haven't moved in the last 10 years so perhaps solicitors have got their act together,
