Just to be clear, the original certificate is safely kept by the registers. You only ever get an official extract. What the OP probably has is an official extract issued at the time they registered. Which might have some sentimental value for them, but is legally no different to an official extract issued now.pinkteapot wrote: »OK. I wouldn’t want to hand over the original either. If it was a UK wedding just buy an official copy, don't do the fast service and wait for it to arrive.
Alternatively, their solicitors can buy it or your solicitors can certify a photocopy of yours and send that to them.

This is a document they will need Later , putting it in the post would be very risky so, taking time to hand carry to a solicitor to get a certified copy would seem to be the prudent thing to do. For which there would obviously be a cost to OP0 -
Surely, the purchasers can get an official extract of the marriage register? It’s a public register, after all. I think I’d ask them why they don’t.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
