Tell the buyers what your administrative charge will be for providing the document.

For the amount, see the following

“They squeezed extra money out of us for no valid reason and made us pay for the most ridiculous things. “

I would be so tempted to repay them in kind but would probably just forget it and post the document

In theory yes, however it's an original document that we will need in future and will need to pay to replace if it goes missing in the post - so aren't willing to take the risk.

Send them a quote for getting a certified copy and send that to them.

Bear in mind that there will be some sort of solution which doesn't involve getting their hands on the document. Possibly not as good or as cheap a solution, but there's always another way.
  • If you don’t do it you will just be extending the communication with the buyers. Is it worth it?

Just say you will do it but you want any out of pocket expenses, i.e. time off work, etc reimbursed and want this confirmed in writing.

Alternatively, could their solicitor not arrange for it to be collected from you?

Charge them for your own time doing this, the price of an envelope, the price of your fuel, the price of parking, and the price of wear on your car.

The required document will be provided with the following prices:
    1. Sacrifice of own's time doing this: £30.00
    2. Reinforced envelope: £3.00.
    3. Fuel: £1.00 per mile
    4. Parking: £4.00.
    5. Wear on car: £1.00 per mile

These prices are not up for negotiation.

But the OP says they will need the document themselves later. Therefore letting it out of their possession sounds like a very bad idea - whose to say the buyers who already have a history of causing OP trouble won't do the same again when they have it in their mitts

I presume it would be borrowed on the basis of a solicitor's undertaking rather than relying on the goodwill of the purchasers themselves.

  • I think its quite fair to charge for expenses such as an hour of solicitor time, couple of hours of your time, certify the copy and send it to them through your solicitor. Obviously obtain this before doing anything.

Or, if the solicitor says you don't need to, don't bother if it won't cause you any legal issues later on (the property still being registered to you).
