In theory you can do the maths, gravitational potential energy (in joules) = mass x height x g (9.8)
    And 1kwh = 3.6MJ

I calculated that the reason our leaf takes more battery percent on the way home on most of our trips is that we are at just over 100m and a lot of out trips end up close to the Thames at basically 0 -10m so we gain a bit over 2% of our little battery on the way there and lose the same amount on the way back so say 45% there and 50% (and a squeaky bum) on the way back despite starting the return trip with a safe looking 55%
Teslas are especially efficient at regenerating on hilly roads - at least according to Electrek. 😉

Model S drivers have reported recapturing as much as 32% of their total energy use while driving up and then back downhill. This would effectively increase a 100 mile car’s range to 132 miles, for example.

Budget solar electric van that champions re-use, reduce, recycle, and recharge

Ziga’s machine is a showcase of reuse, recycling and emissions-free energy. Its electric motors come from old ride-on lawnmowers, while power comes from solar panels and is stored in 7,000 – yes, seven thousand – batteries recovered from old laptops and power tools.

Indeed - it made for interesting reading in the Daily Mail, and more interesting comments from their readers. My understanding is that it doesn't apply to public chargers, just domestic chargers, and that it applies to the 'default' settings and can be turned off.

Momentum seems to be building fast.

London’s Largest Private Taxi Company To Go All Electric By 2023

Addison Lee operates London’s largest private taxi fleet, with more than 4000 cars in service. It says all of them will be electric by the end of 2023 and it will provide over 20,000 emissions free rides per day by that time.

In all, the changeover represents an investment of £160 million ($219 million). The company intends to add 200 electric vehicles to its fleet every month from now through the end of 2023, beginning with an order for 450 Volkswagen ID. 4 electric SUVs. What other EVs the company is considering is unknown at this time. Earlier this year, the company purchased ComCab, which already had a fleet of 650 zero emission electric taxis.

Wasn't this reported 2 or 3 weeks ago?  Anyway, wouldn't most sensible people want to charge off peak anyway?  When I had storage heaters I couldn't charge them at peak rate even if I wanted to and I thought that was a good thing.

May be of interest, there's a rapid charging hub under Hyde Park, dedicated to commercial vehicles.

Just a short piece, about 1.30min, see the Fully Charged vid at the 16.10 mark

Nice little milestone for Sweden in September with the BEV category growing larger than any other (BEV's 32.9% v's petrol 27.7%). This may be due to the end of quarter 'Tesla push' and the reports of double decker train loads of TMY's heading into Sweden, but the BEV/PEV trend for the year is still incredible.

Sweden: Legacy Vehicles Left In The Dust As Plugin EVs Overtake & Accelerate Ahead

September’s combined plugin share of 53.9% comprised a record showing of 32.9% for full battery electrics (BEVs), with plugin hybrids taking 21.0% share. This continues the policy-led shift in weighting towards BEVs that started in April this year. The 2021 cumulative plugin share has now passed 41.7%, from 27.6% by this point last year.
