Unions aren't known for their forward thinking, adaptability and adoption of new labour-saving technologies. They were calling for unviable coal mines and steelworks to stay open long after their sell by dates and for horses to be kept on our roads when cars were clearly better (I made the last bit up). I think the manufacturers employing their members have come round (VW) are coming round (Ford) or will soon (GM).Coastalwatch said:Martyn1981 said:[Edit - Oops, meant to add that in the US, the UAW (united auto workers) has now come out against EV's, as their production will need 30% less employees.]Are they in denial of AGW! How short sighted can some people get.Oh well, it is the US, so perhaps a percentage of them are those still believing that Trump won the last election and that he'll put things right when he wins the Presidency back in 2024!

What can I say, in the 2 years I've had the Zoe, I just haven't had any of the bother you hear about.
That said, I'm a fairly low mileage driver and hardly ever use public chargers now.
Before we got a home charger, I was using public chargers for about 6 months and I can only think of one that I couldn't get a charge from which turned out to be a known problem post.
I just love driving an EV and would honestly never go back to an ICE, probably not even a PHEV.Edit : Just realised you were probably referring to the youtube video above. If so, that isn't me in near the end although I'm guessing your comment was tongue in cheek. 🙂Scott in Fife, 2.9kwp pv SSW facing, 2.7kw Fronius inverter installed Jan 2012 - 14.3kwh Seplos Mason battery storage with Lux ac controller - Renault Zoe 40kwh, Corsa-e 50kwh, Zappi EV charger and Octopus Go0 -

I have had similarly good experience at 7kw charging posts. There are 4 at each of the Tesco shops I use and around 50 at Meadowhall shopping centre and never had a problem there and like Tesco they are all free to use. I even have trained my wife to use the PodPoint app to start the charge at Tesco while I plug in. I said in an earlier post that if you are using the same chargers regularly it’s not such a problem getting a charge started as you are familiar with them and likely to already have the app on your phone. Usually though when I am using the Tesco chargers it is a discretionary top up, not one out of necessity, so it doesn’t matter if they are busy.EVandPV said:

I just love driving an EV and would honestly never go back to an ICE, probably not even a PHEV.It’s been the rapids (or rather lack of) on motorways and trunk roads that I find a problem. Had I a 300 mile range car as several have on here I doubt I would ever have had a problem charging as I have never had to go more than 270 miles since getting my EV.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)2 -
Electric car charging points are to be installed at every new home and office across England from next year ahead of a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030

Given that a vehicle can be charged from something as simple as a standard 13 amp socket then one might dare to suggest that the very same has been in place for the last half century or so!As for the smart charging requirement then could this possibly be covered by something akin to an electronic timer such as used for other domestic 13amp appliances. When charging from home or work then five hours at 3kW would deliver perhaps between 50-60 miles range and probably adequate for the majority of commuters for their normal daily requirements.East coast, lat 51.97. 8.26kw SSE, 23° pitch + 0.59kw WSW vertical. True enough, although I guess you get twice as much charge at 7kw, should you need it, during TOU periods such as the 4 hour Octopus Go window.Coastalwatch said:EVandPV said:Electric car charging points are to be installed at every new home and office across England from next year ahead of a ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030

And probably a full charge for most EVs at 22kw wherever 3 phase is available.Scott in Fife, 2.9kwp pv SSW facing, 2.7kw Fronius inverter installed Jan 2012 - 14.3kwh Seplos Mason battery storage with Lux ac controller - Renault Zoe 40kwh, Corsa-e 50kwh, Zappi EV charger and Octopus Go2 -
