The reason I ask is that I assume Sentry Mode uses one level of power consumption when it is in "monitor" and a higher level of power when it is being "active".
I know I saw a TM3 a while back parked in a public car park, which obviously had the Sentry Mode activated as I walked past, obviously closer than I realised, as the car started talking to me. I didn't realise at first what it was, so stepped back for the car to speak again. I then wasted a few minutes walking up to the carto see the places where it reacted and where it ignored me. I can imagine if the car was in a public place, the cumulative effect of those announcements and starting recording etc would soon add up if there were several people just trying out the reactions from Sentry Mode over the course of the weekend.
It was in a public place, I had 15 videos of cars coming very close as they passed by or people passing the car.
Thankfully I didn't have anyone approaching the car multiple times going back and forward... I'd imagine the owner of the car you triggered would have a pretty funny video to watch back.
It's always recording, but then deleting, but if Sentry is activated then it saves a few minutes before and a Few after its been activated.West central Scotland

Vampire drain as I believe its called, for having sentry mode on, seems to take around 3-4% a night, if the scottish chargers weren't free, I'd probably have switched it off by now, but since I'm using it every day, and most days have access to a charger while I'm working, I barely notice it.
I'd usually use the car on the weekend but didn't at all, and so was quite surprised at the drain.
Certainly makes me think twice about leaving sentry on if I was away for a week, though it does switch off if the battery reaches 20% anyway.

China PEV sales are a tad volatile, to say the least, typically with a surge in the second half of the year, perhaps due to policies. Anyways, looks like this year could see a decent uptick in sales.
Plugin Vehicles Score 15% Market Share In China In July!
Share-wise, July kept shares at record levels, hitting 15% (12% full electrics/BEVs). This pulled the 2021 share to 12% (9.4% BEV), and considering that the second half of the year is usually China’s strongest, we can now safely assume that the country’s plugin vehicle market share will end above the10%15% mark this year, and the total tally of the year will certainly exceed 2 million deliveries!
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

One observation - the vehicle was plugged in to charge. I wonder whether the responses are different then than simply on battery?
I bet you'll be trying now on your own car.
Yes, I am sure the vids were quite something - especially as I did kind of go into a slight Mr Bean mode as testing the various reactions. If the owner was sufficiently enterprising, they will have uploaded to an online video sharing platform.2 -

This article dates back to May but came up in my newsfeed today. If I turn off sentry I don't notice any drain, but thats the first time since getting the Tesla that I've not driven it for 2 and a half days, so perhaps there is still some drain.
Grumpy, mine definitely doesn't, when it's parked in the drive the kids set it off, and then dance in front of the cameras etc, trust me, if it said anything I'd have heard all about daddies talking car.
Both plugged in and not.
Perhaps the earlier tm3's had it, or it got scrapped in one of the bi-monthly updates.
NigeWick, perhaps mine drained more due to the high state of charge? Or perhaps due to the amount of sentry triggersWest central Scotland

Maybe I mistook an S for a 3, but I don't think so.
Maybe it's an aftermarket software.1
