Tesla's China orders fall by nearly half in May - report

Just wondering what is going on with Tesla in China. For the last couple of months it seems Tesla have been exporting more than half the production from its China plant. Is it because Tesla are prioritising Europe or has demand in China fallen? It also seems production is well below the plant’s capacity. Is this down to the shortage of microchips. It seems like Tesla are happy to let the rumours fly around without commenting. Whatever, it is impacting the share price.

May in China turned out alright after all for Tesla.

Following the announcement that Tesla is not proceeding with the Model S Plaid+, I was checking what battery technology it was going to use and came across this article. Are Tesla having problems putting the 4680 battery into production? It would account for the delays with the Semi and CT.

Impressive results from the leading pack although I might suggest a slight anomaly in someones sums when it comes to the difference between the first two.

Norway is quite mountainous.  If you ran out of juice just past a summit you might be able to coast downhill for quite a few extra kilometres.

Thefts of electric car charging cables could be the next crime wave to sweep Britain's streets in the wake of catalytic converter raids

Apart from most EV's having cable locking mechanisms, do most chargers not also have the same at the other end ?
The zappi requires a PIN to release the cable. Just assumed most other chargers have something similar ??

Not sure if this exactly counts as "news" or not, but:

BBC: Why it's the end of the road for petrol stations

By Justin Rowlatt, Chief environment correspondent.

"If you live in a flat or a house without a drive, don't worry. The aim is to have an electric vehicle (EV) charging point at virtually every parking place."  Followed by some upbeat words from a fellow from PodPoint. "The National Grid says it won't have a problem charging all the electric vehicles that are going to come onto our roads", with a quote from National Grid's Head of Control. And much more along the same lines, concluding it's going to be a "death spiral" for petrol stations accompanied by a general increase in forecourt prices for fossil fuel powered cars.

The comments section is something of a mess!

One of the comments below the article

I thought I was going to read a well thought out and analytical article - then I realised I had clicked on the BBC page by mistake.
