He did have a registration plate. It was illegal but the police did not push that fact.
Does anyone know what the private plate actually means? Engineer?

Arguably, it was the fact that the reg plate was not showing as insured was the root cause of all this.
And yes - OP has already told us what (he thinks) it means.0 -

It's either one or the other, it cant be both.0 -
What a ridiculous assumption. The entire thing was on bodycam, if you think from reading a news article you can assume that i was giving attitude then you can request to view the bodycam or come with me to court and see what the officer has to say about how i behaved.
I complied completely because i knew i was legit. The reason it’s in The Sun is because i wasn’t given the same rights as you.
Inconsistency in law or being racially discriminated? Not sure. I didn’t even get paid for the article so you can stop questioning my motives.
Sympathy lost completely for anyone that uses 'Legit'.'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Also, from said article: The 21-year-old then went for a spin in his car with his E17GNR registration, but was suddenly pulled over by four police cars.
Spin as in donuts around McDonalds? PC World? I'm seeing now why perhaps the OP was pulled? Maybe a bit of humility may be in order rather than the posturing seen here in this forum and 'that' publication.
As my dad said 'I'd rather be caught openly reading Razzle than the Sun'.'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

You don't have to agree, none of us were there and we only have one account of the episode, we don't know the facts.
What we do know is that the vehicle was stopped as it flagged up as unregistered, as it could not be verified by the authorised sources then it is the prudent move to remove the vehicle from the road.
The officers report to the sergeant who then runs it by the cps, after the findings were assessed then the charges were placed.
The final verdict is for the courts to decide.
The CPS were not involved that the point a ticket was offered. The CPS will only become involved should the driver reject the ticket and elect for a trial. And not even then; in many jurisdictions simple traffic matters are Police Lead Prosecutions and do not involve the CPS.0 -

You can have a number plate on your car which does not meet the legal requirements. You can be fined for this. It has to have legal spacing, font, approved makers name and appropriate standard mark on plate.
