Mmm. Taking the number of officers almost back up to the 2010 numbers.

What level should they be taken back to? Perhaps their 2003 levels....oh but that is the level they are today.

Just saying that the much-vaunted large number of new officers is nothing of the kind. It's simply stasis over a decade.

But it removes the lack of staff excuse.

I really am disappointed with the service the Police have provided to my parents.

I shared the details on Facebook and we were able to locate the vehicle that caused the damage, my Dad visited and there was visible damage on the vehicle. My Dad also has pieces of the bumper left behind at the accident scene surely this is evidence enough?

Anyway he visited the local Police station which TBH were a waste of time, just passed the info to the accident investigation team in Plymouth. My Dad has explained he has pieces of the bumper here, so surely all it takes is a Police officer to visit with these pieces and see if they match? All the Poilice seem worried about is getting details from the witness.

Now the insurance have contacted the 3rd party and they have denied all knowledge. So they now know they could be being investigated so have time to rectify the damage on the car.

Well done - you found a car that has some damage.

Now prove it was the car that damage was incurred in hitting your car. And who was driving it...

What annoys me is how the Police can't be bothered. They must be able to search the database, I am sure if somebody was hurt it would be a different story.

It isn't that the police can't be bothered at all. Put this into perspective. Since 2010 this country has lost 20,000 police officers plus thousands of detention officers, civilian statement takers, SOCOs, etc etc. Police therefore have no option but to prioritise their workload. And sadly, the accident causing damage to your parents car is at the bottom of the list in terms of priority. No one was injured, it wasn't a violent crime etc. The chances of them finding the car, arresting the driver and bringing him to justice are very slim. Therefore, they wont assign limited resources to it. The car will be repaired via insurance, which sadly your parents will pay for via increased premiums.

With Austerity over the police are recruiting in record numbers.

Bear in mind we have had no Police recruitment for 10 years. Therefore taking on one copper a year would be classed as record numbers. Don't get sucked into the Daily Mails rhetoric.

The is simply not true. It's less than it was and hasn't replaced what was lost but there has been regular recruitment over that last ten years.

Quite so , a freind of mine a retired PC was scammed out of £10k, He gathered all the evidence, tracked down the scammer and presented all of this to local CID, who told him that unless it was over £25k , they wouldn't get involved.
  • Well the fact we have a witness that gave us 75% of the Registration number in the first place. We have the broken bumper bits here, how long would it really take for an officer just to pop in pick up the bits and visit the vehicle. If they fit case closed. Especially when an officer is in the area.

I'm sorry but if I was doing 38 in a 30 Zone they would be on my case in no time. They just can't be bothered, don't help themselves that's why people start to detest the Police.
