Hi stepchange arranged my dro. The advice CRB gave you should have been to contact stepchange direct. not sure why you are worried about credit card transfers? The agreement for a DRO is declare all credit and loans and declare all debts, outgoings and expenses. The year the DRO lasts you must not take out or apply for any credit otherwise the agreement is null and void.
On the stepchange websites it lists all types of debt and what category of importance they fall into as I think you maybe confused? Stepchange.org/debt-info/income-and-expenditure-financial-statement.aspx0 -

- (Quote) I went through stepchange, after they have got all the info they need it took about 7 to 10 days for the barcode to come through the post, you then pay the £90 at the post office, phone your creditors up and get up to date balances,…
- I'm no expert about dro budgets but I will just give you my experience of stepchange. Your budget combined for landline, mobile, cable TV and internet is £107, my budget for them was £60 and stepchange said that was a little high. I never had nothi…
- I had to open a new account, couldn't log in with my other one. The deed is done! I've just checked the 'list if shame', the insolvency register and I'm on it. Dont know whether to celebrate or commiserate, celebrate because of the pure relief I …

Well it's been just over 3 weeks now since my dro was granted and it's all been eerily quiet, I haven't had any letters from my creditors, not a dickie bird, not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
It has been a huge relief and I am able to relax a bit more but I still near jump out of my skin when I see the postman. I keep thinking one of my creditors is going to object, I know they have 30 days to object but then it can take a couple of months for the insolvency service to contact you about it because they are that busy. Think its playing on my mind a bit because my debts were due to gambling.
I'm also all worrying about spending any money from my bank account on 'non essentials' for instance buying my mum a present for mothers day, stupid things like that.
Hopefully as the weeks and months pass things will get easier and I will start feeling less paranoid.0 -

Hi all and Mazda.
I'm just wondering if you have an update on your situation?
I too am in a very similar situation to you due to Gambling and I have just over £21,000 in credit card debt. I have spoken to a number of people including Citizens Advice who have advised that a DRO may be the best possible solution. I asked her today if my Gambling records will impact my eligibility and she wasn't sure... she said it may lead to a DRRO or DRRU. I'm wondering if this happened to you?
I'm 33 and married without kids and I'm so ashamed... I feel like I've ruined my chances of ever having a family or owning a house. Believe it or not, apart from the Gambling, I am and was the most sensible and savvy person when it came to money. I was such a good saver and was very thrifty.
FAO Fatbelly and Sourcrates - I'm not working at the moment (I was made redundant) and I have just applied for Job Seekers allowance for the very first time ever being on benefits. Technically my husband who is in full-time employment can pay off the minimum balance off all 5 cards however it will obviously take years and I think it will take me a while to find another job in this climate. Would you recommend slowly paying them off over a DRO?
Many thanks and look forward to hearing from you all.
Also - is this anonymous? No one can see who I am? (My situation has lead me to come out of my comfort zone and write on a forum for the very first time).
