Well the spendy times are over!! although had a lovely Xmas, but nice to stop spending and focus back on the money saving, much more my scene! Another £1k down, now sitting at £58,970. Each month I knock the balance down about £1000. Seeing the main number go down significantly is quite exciting. I get paid on the 8th so will look forward to paying into my various pots, paying £750 into emergency fund, which will take it to £2k, and paying off the Xmas overspend in the overdraft. DH gets paid on the 20th, a 5 weeker pay period this month, so extra exciting!!
Looking at balance predictions by Dec 2020, it looks like I'll be at the £44k mark. Getting there!!
On the money saving front I reviewed my gas/electricity provider and moved onto another product saving about £10 per month. Every penny and all that....
A small little spend on a new year break, next new year, at Centre Parcs! yes a little treat, but by booking so far in advance, we get a good deal, and the kids love a family break there. Nice to get breaks, hols and treats booked in for the year. love having things to look forward to, even though we are trying to overpay. Got to live and have some fun!Dec 2010=£160k.

Gosh I love the weekend's! 2 days of r&r spend free for me this weekend. I've had my 45th birthday since Xmas, so almost just tucking under my 2 year target to freedom!!!
Just been paid so lovely money shuffle time!! So, I paid £600 into savings taking that up to £1800. Insert smiley face (not worked out how to do that yet !). Need to get this to £6k.
Made a small mortgage overpayment of £70 this month. Not alot, but the overdraft needs riddance this month so money had to go that direction instead. Blinking Christmas overspends!
Just enjoying simple cosy weekends this month. Charge the batteries, long walks, use up stuff in the freezer and enjoy updating my spreadsheet and reading all your diaries!
Next pay day is for DH on the 24th Jan. Will have a nice new signature to update, overdraft will be gone and I will be a happy girl.
Until then, I will be mostly sleeping, pottering, money saving and reading your diaries!! (Insert smiley face !)Dec 2010=£160k.

The Sunday night blues. Anyone else watch the clock and savour those last few hours until the working week chaos starts? Once I'm at work it's not so bad and I do enjoy 'getting stuff done'. But the relief of 5pm is lovely.
Having our plans in place do give me comfort and excitement knowing we are working hard to achieve mortgage freedom. So whilst neither myself nor DH enjoy our job's, we know we're doing something about it. Don't want to see all doom and gloom!! That's not my natural style, just Sunday evening blues!!
One positive is that daily interest is £3.37. Oh the small things! Wont have much to update now until next pay day sadly. Suggested to DH that I may take out cash each month and see how it goes just buying from the cash pot. I have no idea what we spend on food, so rhat would help. £100 a week should be plenty.
Have a good moneysaving week all.

Hi MrsLovely- I've just binge read your diary and found myself nodding my head along as I read...
I'm a way 'behind' you but I'm definitely motivated by the same things- to be able to reduce crazy working hours for myself and OH.
Keep focusing on the positives & have a good week x1 -

Thanks ktinbrum. Thanks for your kind words. When I first started reducing term and wanting to get it done, it seemed a million years away and felt like a drop in the ocean. Zoom forward what seems like 5 minutes and suddenly we're almost there. So whilst you may seem 'behind' others, it will soon be 'on top of you' ! A bit like Xmas, think you have ages, then before you know it, it's christmas eve!!!Dec 2010=£160k.

Overpayment of £250 made, plus normal payment of £977 per month and I'm now at £56,887. Just plodding along with payments and overpayments, and a few holibobs, days out, concerts, comedy nights to break it up! Not much else to update on. After feeling much more upbeat of late about work, could have chucked the towel in today. I think the closer I am getting to mortgage freedom, the more i feel like saying what I think at work! Must keep mouth shut. Am sure it'll blow over!
Until next month, happy overpaying all!Dec 2010=£160k.

Just read your diary 😊
Seems like you are doing amazingly and so close to getting under 50k which must feel like a dream. I am currently working on getting under the 150k so different but a nice milestone to tick off.

Have just read your whole diary MrsLovely and you've done, and are doing, really well. My mortgage is sitting at just under 170k so I've got a long way to go, but reading everyone else's diaries keeps me really motivated. I'm lucky that I enjoy my job and it generally allows me to overpay so I'm hopeful that I'll reach mortgage freedom before I hit 75! My fingers are crossed.1
