Just be honest.
Don’t try to make it sound anything different than it is - most people aren’t so stupid that they can’t read between the lines.
The poem we had with the last wedding invitation asking for money was cringe-worthy.
We opted to buy a very good quality bottle of spirits and a box of premium mixers.0 -

You guess wrong. I'll gladly support a couple setting out in life together and needing items for their house/flat.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I got married 5 years ago after having lived together for over 20 years.
We put a little letter in with the invitations saying that as we had all we need we did not want anyone to buy us a gift and that just having them share our day was enough.
We were going on holiday 5 months later and it was not meant as a honeymoon but several of our friends and family bought us dollars even though we has stated we did not want or expect presents.
I think if I was invited to a wedding I would feel quite annoyed at the suggestion that I contribute to their honeymoon.0 -
Thanks @74jax I don't mean gift anonymously, I mean gift the amount anonymously. I know there's some websites that guests can contribute towards a massage or meal on honeymoon for example, instead of just a cash donation, so I'm just wondering what the best option is as I don;t like the idea of asking for money (and won't be asking for anything) but if guests would like to contribute anything it would be nice.
So you won’t be telling anyone about the honeymoon fund unless they ask?
Well done you! Nice to see a couple who don’t see their wedding as a cash grab opportunity, and now you won’t have to put one of those hideous poems in your invitations! :rotfl:0 -
Hate the poems, have absolutely no problem with people asking for honeymoon contributions - my BIL has just done that, it's best to just do cheques or cash. Have a post box type thing as you don't want them lying around.
Good luck!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
We used Perzola. It was free as an add on to our wedding page (also free)
I felt the service was excellent. We specifically said we didnt want gifts or money to people but we were batted down so we popped the link on the website. After that we made no mention of it unless asked.
You can choose from "vouchers" or real gifts. In reality the vouchers are all pooled together to give a cash value which you then transfer to tour bank account. No fees taken at all.
The service was on offer when we used it. Its not always free. But its a 1 off payment from you not your guests.
People insisted on gifting to us and this was the easiest way to manage that. We put it all towards our honeymoon excursions & took photos to evidence it. We had already budgeted for them as we didn't bank on cash gifts.
We did however ask for cards only. Purely because i wanted to keep peoples best wishes in an album with our other memories. We had a card box for these in a corner.0 -
You can reword the poems on the internet, just use them as a start, even if it's cheesy it gets the message across.0

I didn't ask for money but I was very clear that no gifts were to be bought. We just don't want photo frames, kitchen appliances that don't match what we already have or bloody goblets. Nor did we want a 'that'll do' gift, plucked from the depths of someone's present cupboard. People would simply be wasting their money and I made this clear.
I would never dream of ignoring someone's gift request and presenting them with something completely different. It says one of two things:
I know better than you
or
I keep a gift cupboard and this was the most suitable thing I had0
